Dude, please stop.

At best, they get him to stay.

At worst, it was a salary dump.

Letting him walk sets them up for Free Agency the following year.

They could trade him to another team that thinks they are a Kawhi away from winning it all at the deadline and get back picks, expiring.

Then with Derozan of the books...

In 2020-21, Toronto only has the $10.9M Norman Powell salary and $3.9M OG Anunoby team option counting against the cap.

Here are the financial implications for Toronto by acquiring Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green:

Ding ding ding

Some Lakers fans are starting to find themselves as Cavs were a month ago - not everyone's trying to help out the Lakers.
interestingly enough one of the Cleveland beat guys came o nthe radio the other day

he said that at the all star games and stuff- that LeBron always used to hang out with guys like Bosh, Melo, Wade, etc....kind of the old guard- and that he never bothered talking and interacting and having relationships with the new guard.

guys like Kyrie, Butler, Klay, George etc. always hung out and gravitated to eachother and really didnt interact with LeBron. He speculated it is one of the reasons why LeBron had a hard time getting guys to commit to play with him.

That younger generation respects LeBron- but they really dont want to play with him and get blamed for everything when things go bad and receive secondary credit when things go good.

If what the raptors offered got Kahwi AND Green I am stumped on how the Wolves did not call and offer Jimmy Butler straight up.

Kawhi is the better player, but you have to imagine Butler would be thrilled to resign with a team that has the Spurs commitment to defense. For the Wolves it is no different to have Kawhi walk in a year instead of Butler.
This was the best offer the Spurs were going to get, and they really wanted to move on. Talks with Boston and Philly had been off for weeks apparently, and no other team besides Toronto was willing to go "all in." So I'm not sure you get the same thing from other teams as you got from the Spurs. They just wanted him gone.

They are in Cali as well. Look at trojan's post regarding professional athletes and how much they care about taxes.

Can't help.

He's going from a city and team he doesn't want to be in to another city and team he doesn't want to be in... with taxes.

I'm glad this is over.

Frankly, getting an all star for Kawhi was the best possible scenario, even if DeRozan isn't exactly thrilling. Kawhi is a much better player, but he just killed his trade value with the leaks about wanting to play only in LA.

Lakers were apparently unwilling to give up any of their young prospects, so I hope he does the same as Paul George and stays with the Raptors for a while.

is there a "superstar" that has been as fragile both mentally and physically as Kawhi in the NBA over the last decade+?

I am trying to think and I just dont think so....

I lost respect for Kawhi when he didn't choke the shit out of Parker. The minute he didn't respond in any manner and said he wanted to be traded and the damage was done, he just came across as soft. And that's fully acknowledging that Parker was in the wrong for saying that; but Kawhi should've fucked him up.

He's probably paying about a mil more in taxes. Which, when you're making over $20 mil per year, you're going to be okay.

That certainly makes sense. Also, this year is basically a wash for Lebron. Starting the 2019 season, Bron's going to be 35. The Lakers are a great franchise in a great city, but as you've said, I think Lebron being unwilling to embrace the younger guard *might* put them at a disadvantage in free agency next offseason.

He will also be spending a lot of money in Canada with American dollars

Yet Toronto was willing to dump him to the Spurs for a potential rental of Kawhi, despite DeRozan being a "favorite son" in Toronto...
I think it was more getting a shot at a top 10 player. If he doesn’t stay in Toronto, they get out of nba hell, which is a playoff team, but not a contender. If he stays, it’s still a great trade. The raptors weren’t a serious contender, even to get out of the east, with DeRozan. With Kawhi (and Danny Green) they have a much better chance.

People were saying the same thing about PG last year. If you ask me about the whole situation, I think kawhi has been a massive bitch ever since the Spurs player meeting to get him to start playing last year.

Harsh.

But, not surprising.

They have one year to change his mind.

If not, at least the books will be clean.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Raptors are prepared for a rebuild if Leonard walks as a free agent next summer. It’s a reality that they should be prepared to face, especially considering Leonard reportedly “has no desire” to play in Toronto.

Damn Kawhi really pissed the Spurs off. They got so angry they traded him to a foreign country. That's just wrong.

Have you seen the video where Parker says the comments about his injury being worse?

Not being a smartass. Legitimate question. Cause it certainly, in my eyes after watching, seemed taken out of context.

Are you under the impression Mitch and short buss are still running things in LA?

Player free agency is more about relationships AMONG players. This is something that I've learned about over the years as it relates to the Heat. You act like players are clamoring over each other just to play for Magic.

Parker stated that his injury was a 100 times worst than Kawhi's. That may or may not have been true.

But with a guy going through an injury, that's not something you should say publicly. Especially with a personality like Kawhi's. Stephen Jackson (former teammate of Parker's) even said that it was fucked up for Parker to say that.

You think having lebron on the team is going to hurt the Lakers in 2019?

Depends on the players you are targeting.

Say the Lakers wanted Jimmy Butler as an example.

Butler wants to play with Kyrie.

Kyrie doesn't want to play with Lebron.

Lakers won't get Butler.

In the clip posted by Manu4ever, it was reported that Kawhi has been reaching out to other players to gauge who would like to team up in certain markets.

Obviously, it's all just rumors.

But, do you remember where Kawhi was when he choose to stop attending games?

He was in New Jersey with his uncle.

Nets have the means to sign 2 max guys and have 2 first round picks to offer in trades next Summer.
