How does that work?

Can he just sit out or does he need to fake an injury?

I just saw something yesterday that said he wants to play for Team USA and is going to play in camp this Summer.

I think he will need to fake the injury to keep from being penalized and having salary withheld.

Not butthurt. It's literally the truth. Hearing everything from the SA media these last few months has made me nearly hate Kawhi. People are blaming his uncle but Kawhi is 27 years old. He's allowing all of this to happen and all of the things coming out about him making him look worse and worse and he hasn't said a peep about it or even try to defend himself.

He's a bitch.

I highly doubt the Spurs will get anywhere near as bad as the Lakers have been for the last 6-7 years lol

So what do you think of the trade? You happy with it?

I'm on the border. I'm not happy with Danny getting caught in the crossfire of all of this, at all. I'm super excited to have DeMar as part of the Spurs though. He's another 20+ ppg guy alongside Aldridge. Add in all the promising youth the Spurs have now and I like how things are looking for the next few years.

Danny Green getting traded hurt worse than all of this Kawhi drama though. I will say that. Guy did not deserve this.

DeRozan was good in Toronto. I think he'll be better in San Antonio playing for Pop.

I don't know if Pop can make him a superstar, I doubt it, but he'll be better.

I can easily see him getting a nod as a reserve in a year or two. People don't understand how great this kid can be.

"A lock" in the NBA lol. You Lakers fans keep saying he's coming, and with all the reports that he wants to go, it makes sense. I'm just thinking it's funny because once LaVar says one crooked thing about him, the little bitch is gonna be wanting to leave LA soon.

Enjoy your fragile superstar, IF he comes.

Literally anything can happen in the NBA. Leonard to the Lakers is far from a lock.

When you have Golden State and LeBron James in your conference, you're basically guaranteed to be a non-contender. Don't think the Spurs made any of these moves with the intention of competing with GS. They're not stupid. They don't want to rebuild. This is just a step in the direction of not having to for a few more years.
is there a "superstar" that has been as fragile both mentally and physically as Kawhi in the NBA over the last decade+?

I am trying to think and I just dont think so....

I'm most excited to see if Chip Engelland can help him become a better 3pt shooter. He's responsible for Kawhi's improved 3pt shooting after college and he worked with DeJounte this off-season, and DeJounte has been posting vids on Insta of his improvement in that area and it looks so much better already.

Yeah, Ingram might be because of his upside. I love Kuzma, but he's not worth a year of Deng.
I'm a big Ingram fan.

The guy is big enough, and skilled enough, to play spots 1-3.

After 3 or 4 more years on a 250,000 calorie per day diet, he can play the 4.

Ball, Kuz, Hart, Mo...l8r fellas.

Lakers should gladly ship any combination of these guys out for a legit star.

But, not Ingram.

...obviously guys like Giannis and Davis are the exception....Dame too....imo

I'd like to see what the young guys do before the Lakers make ANY move. Ingram made huge leaps from year 1 to 2. I'm hoping Kuz, Lonzo and Hart do the same.

Define mentally fragile?

Guys like Boogie are emotionally fragile.

Is that what you mean?

I get Kawhi's antics being distasteful.

I get him being heavily influenced in a negative way.

But, he's all business on the court and that's all some folks care about.

Mentally fragile to me is Durant on Twitter.

Dude gets buckets and jewelry.

So, who really cares?

Honest opinion...this is the rare lose-lose trade.
SA loses because they refuse to tank for future drafts, therefore leaving them in NBA Purgatory for years to come.

Toronto very well may lose because is Kawhi going to stay? Obviously the LA thing is out there, and you can bring up the Paul George situation, but at least they have Westbrook, and an injury "out" with Roberson. Is Kyle Lowry enough to keep Kawhi around? Also, how far will they get in the playoffs having to most likely play Boston, and Philly?

The only win I see here is Toronto being able to get out from under Derozan's contract....with the very slim possibility of keeping Kawhi/being able to blow it up if/when he leaves

Agree.

Plus, playing with Lebron will raise their trade value if you do decide to make a move.

He usually makes guys look much better than they are.

Do you think Demar can play the 3?

I would love to see a Dejaunte, Demar, Walker lineup.

But, pop will likely start Gay.

I wanted to see Gay start last year but it never came to fruition the way I envisioned. I don't think Walker starts unless there's an injury. He should get plenty of playing time though.

If what the raptors offered got Kahwi AND Green I am stumped on how the Wolves did not call and offer Jimmy Butler straight up.

Kawhi is the better player, but you have to imagine Butler would be thrilled to resign with a team that has the Spurs commitment to defense. For the Wolves it is no different to have Kawhi walk in a year instead of Butler.

Why must you be ridiculously unrealistic?

The Lakers won't be their only choice of trade partner.

Nobody wants that Shit Deng contract.

They are better off clearing both salaries and having capspace.

Some Lakers fans are starting to find themselves as Cavs were a month ago - not everyone's trying to help out the Lakers.

If i'm the Lakers I don't offer them anything and just wait till next summer.

This isn't like the PG situation. Kawhi doesn't want to be in Toronto. The weather is shit and the taxes are high.

Kawhi to the Lakers is pretty much a lock.

They are in Cali as well. Look at trojan's post regarding professional athletes and how much they care about taxes.
