Not saying OKC vs. TOR - I'd take OKC too, probably.

I mean in one team or the other actually getting to the Finals. There's next-to-no chance OKC's getting past GS, HOU, LAL, even Utah or NO are posing challenges. The Raptors have, at best 1 team that's 100% better than them on paper right now in the East and two of that team's best players are coming off serious injuries.

I don't know how Kawhi thinks. I don't really think anybody does except that he feels like the Spurs didn't treat him well. Whatever happens, happens, but I think PG shunning the Lakers and staying in a small market was very indicative of how much things can change in 12 months.
Oh...yes, you are correct.

I misunderstood.

You have a better chance of getting to the Finals.

....believe me, I want him to stay with the Raptors.

Or....any other team not the Lakers.

Good luck and I personally don't think he will sit out.

I have to think Masai talked to him before pulling the trigger.

Yeah, I do feel bad for guys like Blake and Demar.

They were loyal and got dealt in the best interest of the franchise.

But, it could be worse.

They could be IT or Boogie.

Boogie will get some cold comfort if he gets a ring. But, he lost about 25 mil this year that he could have signed for with the Kings.
I feel...I dunno, not so much bad. Appreciative, yet realistic is maybe better. I like Demar and get the sentiment (and maybe Masai & co. very well did promise him he wouldn't be dealt, which would've been dumb and Masai's not too dumb so I'm not convinced on this one) but Demar also shot 0-for-8 vs. the Bucks in the playoffs once (back before Giannis was insane, to boot) and that made me feel bad too so, eff it ya know?

It's Masai's job to do what's in the best interest of the Raptors.

If Demar didn't get a no trade clause, he should have known this was always a possibility.

You can feel bad. But, this was the right move and a great gamble...imo

At best, he stays and you have a top 5 player.

At worst, you have that 30plus million of Demar's off your books.

Even if you don't win, you still can't lose.

The kings traded cousins to NOT pay him the Supermax

I think they did a great deal because they got a Allstar locked into a long-term deal.

They are still very much a playoff team with Aldridge, Demar.

I personally think they locked themselves into being a playoff team, but a non-contender really. They're already virtually capped-out for next season. Is DeRozan still an all-star in the West?

Same reason the Celtics traded Midget Isiah.

...and Kyrie is better.

At least Demar and Blake still got their money.

The other two still got traded and didn't.

Yikes, probably not an All-star.

I don't think the Spurs will lose any ground next year.

They are basically swapping Green out for Derozan since Kawhi didn't play much last Season.

They could also miss Anderson a bit.

But, I think they will either slide Derozan to the 3 and start Walker at sg or just start Rudy Gay.

Playoff team, non contender sounds right.

I can't imagine sitting out is a real option. He would still have that season on his contract if he doesn't show.

Even beyond that, who's giving him a max as a FA if the guy hasn't played in two years? I mean, knock yourself out but that's a horrifyingly stupid career move.

Thank you Spurs. Kawhi to the Lakers is pretty much a lock now.

And they didn't have to give up anything for him

I wouldn't call it a lock. PG shows that. I understand it's a bit of a different situation, but you never know.

Having said that, short of getting him via trade themselves, this is the best outcome for the Lakers.

Do you know how hard it is to be an allstar point guard in the West these days?

Murray might eventually develop into his potential, but highly
doubtful he becomes an allstar anytime soon in SA.
I can easily see him getting a nod as a reserve in a year or two. People don't understand how great this kid can be.

"A lock" in the NBA lol. You Lakers fans keep saying he's coming, and with all the reports that he wants to go, it makes sense. I'm just thinking it's funny because once LaVar says one crooked thing about him, the little bitch is gonna be wanting to leave LA soon.

Enjoy your fragile superstar, IF he comes.

Just gonna keep this in mind all year as people bleat about how Kawhi's going to go to the Lakers next summer.

Paul George: I Wanted to Join Lakers Last Year, But They Didn't Trade for Me
Literally anything can happen in the NBA. Leonard to the Lakers is far from a lock.

When you have Golden State and LeBron James in your conference, you're basically guaranteed to be a non-contender. Don't think the Spurs made any of these moves with the intention of competing with GS. They're not stupid. They don't want to rebuild. This is just a step in the direction of not having to for a few more years.

Ok, so im exaggerating a bit with 'lock'

But yes, like you said probably the best outcome for the Lakers.

If he had gone to Philly or Boston I might have been worried.

honestly....

does anyone really think that if the Raptors went to the Sixers at the deadline and asked for Covington, and Saric the Sixers say no? You have got ot be kidding me....or that the Clippers wouldnt offer say SGA, and expiring Harris? I mean cmon. Or even if the Wizards or somethign wouldnt just offer an expiring like Howard, a pick and say Oubre? Or basically any team that is not offering a terrible shit contract and marginal young player. lol.

Exactly. If Deng were an expiring contract this season, so he was only on the books for the remainder of the season...then maybe. But even then, the Lakers would need still likely need to sweeten the pot.

Not butthurt. It's literally the truth. Hearing everything from the SA media these last few months has made me nearly hate Kawhi. People are blaming his uncle but Kawhi is 27 years old. He's allowing all of this to happen and all of the things coming out about him making him look worse and worse and he hasn't said a peep about it or even try to defend himself.

He's a bitch.

Your turn now :D
I highly doubt the Spurs will get anywhere near as bad as the Lakers have been for the last 6-7 years lol

Sure.

But, they already have Demar off the books.

Why would they add Deng's albatross of a contract?

Unless you think getting Kuzma is worth a year of Deng?

I don't.

I'd rather let Kawhi walk.

Yeah, Ingram might be because of his upside. I love Kuzma, but he's not worth a year of Deng.
