Reasons like this is why players have to do what's best for them. Can't care about loyalty to these teams.

Sources close to DeRozan told ESPN's Chris Haynes that DeRozan met with Toronto brass in Las Vegas during summer league and was told he would not be traded.

In a story posted on his Instagram page on Wednesday morning, DeRozan wrote, "Be told one thing & the outcome another. Can't trust em. Ain't no loyalty in this game. Sell you out quick for a little bit of nothing... Soon you'll understand... Don't disturb..."

BOOM

And it's why Leonard should return from injury on his time table, not the Spurs.

Depends what you're comparing it to. Compared to Texas? Definitely. Compared to California or NY? Nope.

Since he wanted to go to LA, guessing the taxes aren't such a big deal.

/He gets paid in US$ and can spend in CDN$ too. He comes out on top there too.

Looking at the spending power his 20 million USD spends like 26.5 Million in Canada. Not a bad raise!

I don't care if he's a great player. If you like this guy after all you've heard and don't have some kind of questions about his character, I question that fanbase.

lol yeah, experienced upstate New York type cold before back in my Air Force days(about 27 miles FROM the Canadian border, in fact). minus 67 with the wind chill factor was not uncommon...

Plattsburgh? Flew out of there when I went to Haiti.

The difference here is that he will have to be sold on a whole other country. I hear guys that play up there get taxed at a higher rate, I don’t see his uncle standing for that long term. I expect he is one and done, if they can get thst much out of him.

He probably is. As far as taxes goes, LA's are ridiculous to be coupled with the cost of living.

Pop really is a cold mother fucker. Kawhi wanted to be traded to LA. Pop literally traded him to the exact opposite of Los Angeles.

You could almost say he deported him.

Welcome to the Lakers next summer.....Mr Leonard.

I was way more worrid he would be traded to the Soxers and like i there since he knows people there.

Outside of death and taxes, there are no guarantees in life.

Vince got plenty of exposure down south back before the social media era. He was just a shade off of how public a figure AI was and 1) AI was better than him and 2) Vince didn't have any of the baggage, just his skills.

Odd comparison given the personalities of the 2 players.

Regardless, those cities have winters as bad or sometimes worse than here. It's a dogshit argument as a reason anybody would avoid here.

I've spent more than a fair amount of time in all 4 cities. If you think that Toronto's winters are similar to Philly's, I don't know what to say. It is consistently 10-15 degrees colder in Toronto.

I think the Raptors got a good deal.

And I mean, if they were looking to rebuild, I think if they want to re-flip Kawhi at some point because its not working out they could actually come out on top of this deal.

Having said that, it'll be fascinating to see how Kawhi acts. Will he take this as a challenge, stay healthy and lead this team and try and rehab his image that has been so tarnished the last few weeks? Or will he whine, mope, nurse his leg, complain and play half-ass basketball.

And as we read the other day--- their are GM's that are concerned about Kawhi's health. They have legitimate concerns whether he can still be that top 5 player, or if he is more of a top 15-30 player after the injury.

I just love that Pop did not give him what he wanted, and traded him to the East. I am really pumped he did not go to LA- either the Lakers or Clippers. He should not be able to dictate what he wants to do after what he has pulled over the last year.

Yeah, I'm happy that Pop threw a wrench in Kawhi's uncle's plan. He seems to be the one that's poisoning the well and the classic hanger on that's calling the shots. Sending Kawhi's ass to Toronto is downright hilarious.
