My guess would be a draft pick or 2

Well the Spurs are going to need to send money back to Toronto for the deal to work. They could send Mills off with Kawhi.

I will say this. I don't think that PG was ever that upset about getting traded to OKC. I can't imagine that Kawhi is happy about this at all. He wanted a big market and instead got a non-American city.

Good luck selling Nike in Canukistan, Kawhi.

Oh, I agree. But strange things happen. The Raptors are now (again, considering whom else is traded) potentially the best team in the East if Kawhi's 100% healthy and the best player in that conference without a doubt.

And as was mentioned in other threads, your personality and skillset combined determine your marketing value. Kawhi's a great player, but hardly marketable as a personality.

We'll see what happens. In the end, this could be a great thing for the Lakers. Or it could be another potential stumbling block.

I think that's who's going to be included in the draft.

Wonder what else the Raps are giving up?
Probably a draft pick and one of their big men- Poelt or Siakam I would think.

I dont think they would give up OG......if the Spurs got him they would be getting a pretty good deal.

From DeRozan's perspective, did he really think that they were going to keep the team intact as is given that they just got swept in the 2nd round of the playoffs and have been playoff failures? He shouldn't have been surprised that this happened.

There is no reason he shouldnt play, he got out of SA. What you can hope for is building a team around him that can contend, maybe some more trades or little pickups to get deep in the playoffs and contend. Otherwise, he is gone next year.
If OG and Van Vleet aren't in the deal then there could be a lot of progress roster-wise this season and Kawhi is just a fucking awesome benefit to that.

Pop really is a cold mother fucker. Kawhi wanted to be traded to LA. Pop literally traded him to the exact opposite of Los Angeles.
I mean, as much as Chicago or Boston or Philly or to a lesser extent NY is the "exact opposite of LA". It's a massive city, good schools, great culture, great nightlife, incredible food, he can literally live in a palatial condo above his place of work if he wants or grab himself a McMansion a short distance away, the loonie is in the crapper again so the US dollar goes much farther here, the fanbase is excited...

If the only two knocks are the cold weather and border control then we're in the same boat as all those cities I named and then some on the first count and it takes about 20 seconds to clear customs if you're on a pro sports team on the second count. Demar is from LA too and he's pissed about leaving. I think that says something.

well....I gotta say- I am glad he was not traded to LA- and feel good that he wont be in a good situation with the Sixers because hes an ass.

Seems like he got what he deserved. There will be a lot of expectations in Toronto, a first year coach, the city really seemed to like DeRozan. Its really a ball buster of a situation in some ways for Kawhi which is awesome. In Philly he could have just blended in. In LA he would have got his wish. Instead? A lot of snow and a lot of expectations. He is going to have to prove himself.

I'm just here for the memes next year when Kawhi goes to LA and Lebron beats Toronto one last time though.

To be fair.

A guy who can win over Toronto fans basically has the canada market. It's a big opportunity if you can do it right. Because the raptors are essentially canada's team.

But you have to do it right.

I would imagine if Patty Mills was involved it would take a third team. Lowry and VanVleet are kind of established as the PG's. I would expect Delon Wright to head to San Antonio as part of it.

I am curious to see the final deal, I don't see how it works by looking at the teams.

lol, Pop just gave the middle finger to Magic, the Lakers and True Lakers fans around the world.
sure looks like this will be the first year in almost a decade that LeBron will not be playing with another all-star caliber player.

I think LeBron THINKS he knows what he signed up for, but I think he is going to realize he doesn't.

More players are involved according to Woj

There are more players on both sides included into the swap, but only DeRozan has been informed so far, sources said. Toronto president Masai Ujiri informed DeRozan of the trade late Tuesday night, league sources said. The rest of the players involved were being informed Wednesday morning, sources said.

From a media exposure perspective, Toronto is VERY different than Philly, Chicago or Boston.

Toronto the city is lovely, albeit absurdly cold in the winter. Way worse than Philly and colder than Boston or Chicago, albeit it not as much.

Danny Green is included in the trade.

We lost our two best defenders and didn't even get a good defender in return.

Spurs get an all-star player and a 1st round pick. Outstanding.

lol yeah, experienced upstate New York type cold before back in my Air Force days(about 27 miles FROM the Canadian border, in fact). minus 67 with the wind chill factor was not uncommon...

It wasn't going to be perfect considering the circumstances. But it's definitely a good return if you're San Antonio.
