Kinda.

And you're dead on about how none of the moves this year have worked. But in 2016, it was virtually the same team, just decimated by injuries, and in 17 we had another run of bad signings that didn't pan out, plus more injuries, plus Harvey being a dick-straction.

It's what we do

The injuries seem to be a constant. It's every damn year. Even when they turned over the training staff it made no difference. They took it easier on the team in spring training and it made no difference. It's like a curse.

Jay Bruce - .212, 3HR's 17RBI in 212 at bats

DAMN

Knowing it's bad, and then seeing how bad it is on paper. are two different experiences

People were claiming this guy could hit some kind of homerun milestone as a Met

Well, they're finally replacing all the water mains in Queens, so that should help

That one's a killer coming off his year last year when he was more than solid.

I still blame Aaron Boone and a pick-up basketball game.
Oh, and the player's union. He could've been Boston's embarrassment, but nooooooooooo
A great byproduct of that was Nomah, in decline and cancerous in the clubhouse, getting himself run out of town in 2004 for sulking cuz the Bosox were going to trade him, which then led to a WS title later that season.

From what I've heard the Mets have barely received calls for deGrom and Syndergaard because GMs know the crazy package that would be needed. They will have to aim for the next tier, Matz/Wheeler.

Until Syndergaard shows he can stay healthy I wouldn't give up premium prospects for him.

And deprive the world of such magical baseball moments like the Arroyo glove slap?!

Better be ready for a long rebuilding process then, because those are the only two players with any value on the team and they have a desert for a farm system. Nothing in the pipelines.

And FTR, it doesn't matter who you add, nothing guarantees a World Series except being the first team to 4 wins in the Series. The playoffs are a crapshoot, and the best team doesn't always win.

I like ARod but I disagree. Besides as others have said here I doubt DeGrom gets traded this season.

But...but...THOR! Long hair! Tough guy, meet me at the mound if you don't like it!

I agree, nuclear stuff but he might be the latest version of Kerry Wood/The Whip Blackwell/etc etc.
