Bell will get his money he's looking for, just not by the Steelers. Some dumb team will give him what he wants and be screwed when he starts to slow down or have chronic injuries that keeps him off the field.

Spoiler alert... No deal will get done.

I find it hilarious that so many media outlets are declaring that this is going "down to the wire" as if there is an ongoing, 24 hours a day marathon type negotiation right now.

There almost assuredly isn't. The Rooneys made their offers back in March, and obviously Bell didn't cash in. Everything since then is nothing but writers, journalists, bloggers and general hacks looking for clicks & ratings boosts... Oh and of course all the media jousting from Bell himself.

When it comes to contract disputes such as this, the Rooney family is undefeated, untarnished, & unscathed.

Ask Mike Wallace. Ask Hines Ward. Ask Mike Merriweather. Ask Franco Harris.

I think Pittsburgh will end up tagging him again. Bell has about 3-4 more years left in the tank and I don't think the Steelers are going to give him a contract for that length of time or they already would have by now. If I'm the Steelers paying top dollar for a great RB who already hasn't made my team better than the competition in the AFC makes the decision to sign him to a multi-year deal a hard pass.

Bell is talented but we’ll see how his numbers stack up in future years if he’s not on the Steelers. Brown and those other WRs keep the defense honest. Ben is a veteran QB who reads defenses well and delivers the ball to the guy “in space”.

If bell leaves and gets paid next year that team will want him to be the focal point. Meaning, he will be THE guy in the offense not A guy.

Bell has more of a legit gripe than Julio Jones does. Julio has 3 years left on a deal that made him the highest paid receiver in the NFL when it was done, but now that he's been passed in salary by some WRs(I think Sammy Watkins is the one that really chaps his ass) he wants a new deal.

Catch more than 3 TDs then.

At this point their options are extremely limited for a replacement. If they were ready to let him walk they would've made some moves earlier and another 2.5 million or so isn't that big of a penalty for Pittsburgh.

I don’t see the Steelers not sign him. As big of a pain he may be he still is explosive on the field and you can’t take that away from him

Bell was pretty pedestrian last year. Still sound but definitely not as good as prior years . If he regresses again this year he likely sobt ecen get what the Steekwrs offered him by next year

The Steelers made him a VERY handsome offer before last season, which he rejected. There's no way they're going to bend to his ridiculous demands, certainly not after the way he's carried himself, made himself out to be some poor, pitiful victim and the Steelers the bad guys. Pittsburgh doesn't do bidding wars with other teams, let alone guys who try to get a team to go into a bidding war against themselves for that player's services.

I hate situations like this no matter what team is involved. Its all the media will talk about instead of interesting shit.
