Luckily in a 1 game playoff you dont have to worry about the other 4
I like our chances with our lineup and Paxton against either NY or Boston, I was comparing the rest of the rotation because that is what you would be left with after the WC game.

I'd happy "mortgage" a little bit of future if it means getting an ALDS appearance. Guys like Cruz and Felix aren't getting any younger. Let's see what happens.

aaron sanchez would be the guy two seam R/R 1st rounder from barstow cal 25 yo..but he is injured on 10 day with right index finger contution....should be back in 10 -15 days i would say
4.52 era he pitched 192 innings with a 300 era in 2016

so lets say..cano romine and voggy...for sanchez and solarte...helps toranto a lot
if they did not want voggy..they can turn around and trade him to detroit who does
backing up our old farm hand catcher john hicks R/R..hicks not doing bad at first either ave 288

Problem with wildcard game is Paxton pitches and if we win he is out for most of the next series (the real playoffs). Happ to me is a nice pickup for the regular season, but doesn't add much for the playoffs much like Moyer was. I say go for gold and try for a #1 like DeGrom or Syn. Playoffs, and the goal should to make them and win and not just play in game 163, require 2 stud starters. Paxton has the chance to be one of those but none of the current guys are it. They could help add depth in the playoffs, but I wouldn't trust any of them for a must win game.

And I know we are not getting a #1 SP now or in the off season. That isn't the Dipoto way.

It's just a soundbite, but Dipoto just said he's "fairly certain" Blake Snell won't be available. I certainly would be holding onto him if I were Tampa. Good, young, and controllable. No pressure to give that away.

That'd be a guy I'd be willing to give up Lewis and White for. I have question marks on Lewis staying healthy and White might have a hard time getting everyday AB's with the way things set up the next few years with Cano/Healy/Cruz (I think he will resign in the off-season)

right on that

but like Nwinaz said..it is unlikely that they trade for a starting pitcher..but it does not make any sense..cuz..
not tradeing cano would be the ultimate smack in the face

like ignoring the potential. of the possable trades to improve.....and getting that big money off the books

if they trade cano the odds go up they will trade for a#3..or #5 starter..or combo #5 starter=pin

Speaking of former Phillies, I'd like to see if the M's try for Cole Hamels. He has a lot of post season experience and I think it would do wonders for this staff.

They just reported that Texas has cleared the way to trade him and most likely before the AS break. I am guessing he has team on a no-trade list and maybe they were rechecking with him to see if those teams are still off limits.

My only worry with him or Happ is that they are both in the mold of Gonzo and LeBlanc and LH like them and Paxton. I would really love to see a RH power pitcher to change things up.

I’d prefer Happ over Hamels but I think that’s the kind of acquisition we are looking at

Ya, it's kind of weird. Before the season he was projected as the number 1 asset if the Rangers struggled. They have been out of it since April but I haven't heard anything about him, it's all Machado and Happ.
