The part that drives me crazy is getting ahead 0-2 and wasting three pitches trying to get the batter to chase. If you threw two quality pitches to get ahead you should be able to throw a third one within the next couple pitches. The whole point in getting ahead is to make the batter hit your pitch. Not to let him back into the at bat by pitching around him.

Too much emphasis on trying to strike hitters out. Unless the situation calls for a strike out a SP needs to get the out earlier in the count than what we're seeing.

yeah it ought to at least be a pitch that isn't obviously going to bounce 5 feet from the plate.

on another topic, i see Senzel is out for the year -- torn tendon in thumb. Well, he was gonna get a cup of coffee anyhow this year but that's a tough break. Next callup is the Pickle, if they trade Scooter.

I think it may be a torn tendon in right index finger which is better than the thumb, but nonetheless it's season ending.

Between vertigo, a few other slight injuries, and this latest injury the kid has been injury prone early in his career. It's one of those things that seems to plague some players.

The vertigo can't be fixed with surgery, sadly.

They say there is treatment for it now . When Nick Esasky had it there was nothing they could do which finished his career. Still even with treatment it won't be easy

Nick Esasky's vertigo was different from what Nick Senzel is experiencing. Esasky's was irreversible damage to his inner ear caused by an infection. It sounds like Senzel's vertigo is acute rather than chronic.

Most forms of vertigo are related to the inner ear. Pro golfer Jason Day and Nick Senzel are possibly more comparable. Day won a Major while dealing with it during the tournament. So hopefully Nick Senzel can persevere with treatment and awareness of triggers to his condition.

I would imagine Senzel's doctors would have some pretty good info on this. I know what vertigo is but not all the varieties or symptoms. I just hope the kid can put together the career he appears to have.

speaking of pitching, it looks like Finny and Homer are finding creative ways to stay off the main stage. My guess is Homer is about to announce he needs surgery and will go the 60-day route. Finnegan appears to have built a perfect AAA career.
