I'd rather have 2 third rounders this year than 2 first rounders for 2019. You can get some solid vets this year. Could be stupid. Or it could be sneaky smart.
didnt think of that, it is smart

id rather have the rb's
I'm taking best available WR with the 2.6. There will still be lots of RBs available. Just need a decent one with next pick and with all the RBs the last two years in the draft someone like Mixon should be available.

We use FAAB, with $100 budget. I don’t have a ton of experience doing this. Sounds good though.

Don't spend FAAB at WR unless absolutely sure, or you won't have enough to land a good RB (if one ever becomes available).

And give me 2 third round picks in startup over 1st rounder in rookie draft, unless you have zero faith in ability to finish middle of the pack or better in yr 1.

Looks like it will be a wild league, some seem new to dynasty, hopefully you can take advantage

Thanks for the tip spending FAAB budget, as for that trade...he paid a first in a rookie draft to move up 8 spots this year( not get a extra pick this year) not as bad as it looks at first glance, but without having clue if moving up 8 spots at that point becomes important or not IDK if I'd want to do that.

Yeah this is going to be a wild league, everyone seems pumped and primed to make some moves. Draft kicks off tomorrow.....by Email. Never done a Email draft before. Hopefully there will be a nice flow to the draft.:hope:

One last point about that trade. I’ve traded away a first round rookie pick and I’ve traded for a first round rookie pick and it seems to me that even if that 2019 first becomes 1.12 chances are you can trade that pick for someone more valuable that which ever player in 2018 was taken , draft fever and such.

I still think I'd rather have more eggs early in the start-up draft than for 2019's rookies. But that's me.

Keep us posted.

I wasn't involved in the trade and don't feel strongly about either way. Killing time while I wait for the draft to start tomorrow. I might of done the same trade a few years ago, but now I find myself wanting to hold on tightly to first round picks. I find that once the draft arrives I really want to own a first round pick badly. If I don't have one, I end up over paying to get one, but that's just me. I've seen owners who haven't had a first round pick for several years and seem OK with that.
I will keep you posted. I'm in real suspense wondering how the draft evolves.
Are there some WR lovers in the group? :hope: I already know we have a " average Joe" like owner, harping about rookie fail rate. I suspect that at least one owner will be lusting after Barkley, but that's just conjecture on my part.

@SmokingMonkey gave some good advice.
If I can throw in my :2cents:... In my experience with FAAB, many owners will bid in $5 dollar increments ($5, $10, $15, etc.) With this in mind, it might be a sneaky move to just bump it a dollar.
So, hypothetically, if a decent FA breaks out one week, and you figure the owners will be bidding $15 for him, just bump it to $16 or $17.
My guess is on any given week, a FA will be worth $5 or less. So if you really want him and want to save your remaining budget, bid $6 or $7. Otherwise, bid $3. Make sense?

Sounds like good advise Joe. Zero $ bids are allowed in this league, don't know if that matters just throwing it out there. Think everyone in the league is familiar with FAAB because there is no question being brought up on the subject.
Last time I was in a league using FAAB, it seemed like most owners were saving every penny for that "one big" FA. Doubt that's the case in this league.

Zero $ bids are really nice for taking a chance on a splash WR4 type that is entering an easy 2-3 game stretch and for cycling useless players if you miss out on the prized FA

Yeah, you don't want my advice on that one.............lol. I'm always the first guy to run out of dough.

EDIT: That said Joe has a great point and that is something I've done in the past. Hell, I've even out bid a guy by .51 cents before.

Zero Dollar bids are the one thing I have gotten good at (Cuz I've blown all my dough already). Just make sure you put them in on time. If you have more than 1 dude you want make sure you put them in the order you want them. Sounds easy but it is easy to mess up.

EDIT: Lot's of guise think they have to wait until Blind Bid Waivers are over to put in a zero dollar bid............but I doubt that will be the case in this league.

Yup. And he had a shit ton of BB money too.........I know it was a QB but can't remember who it was...........this league is half "Guruish" guise and half idiots, but it's set up fer the bottom teams to move up, kinda like the NFL. I love it TBH.
