I like the Mavericks and Suns draft too. They killed it.

LOL, welcome to real life, lady. This isn't college, where chicks can demand equal funding with the men's team. This is real life, where your sport's popularity and revenue tends to dictate how much players make.

WNBA players are paid so little b/c the league doesn't make any money. The WNBA draws jack shit in attendance, has terrible TV ratings, and even though it’s being subsidized by money from the NBA, as of 2016, half of the WNBA’s teams were losing money. Take the NBA’s money away and the WNBA would’ve folded years ago. WNBA players are essentially living off of handouts from the NBA.

I think Porter Jr should redshirt like Embiid and Simmons.

But yeah... Nuggets got a steal of a lifetime.

We'll see. A bad back doesn't bode well for a great NBA career. And he only played a handful of college games so he's really an unknown. And his defense isn't his strength either. So, even if he lasts longer than I expect, he's another 1-way player.

I think the Nuggets took a gamble on a lottery ticket. He could turn into an absolute stud. But there is probably a better chance that he will have little impact in the NBA due to either his play or injury.

I would not say he is an unknown just because he missed a year of playing college ball.

Well, LeBron James, KG, Kobe, Dwight Howard and more all came straight from high school. Yes, the extra year helps evaluate, but elite talents can be spotted well before college. Porter fits that bill if his body cooperates.

The difference between Sullinger and Porter is that Sullinger actually played in college and played really well.

Michael Porter basically has no college CV. So he's basically a high school 5 star recruit coming off a major injury. That is an awful lot of unknowns.

Fair argument actually. It will be interesting to see if he needs another operation and rehab. Kid looked depressed about his drop

You never know how a player will make the jump from HS to college and then from college to the NBA. It's just such a huge leap from each level to the next.....it's why so many players bust as opposed to do well.

Factor in an injury and that's something else to consider.

Yeah assuming he is just another "1-way player" crazy

A lot of these kids are between the ages of 19-21 and played a year or 2 of CBB and in Porter case, he only played 3 games Assuming that they can't improve their game is incredibly dumb

There was a reason why the NBA instituted a 1 year minimum. For every Lebron, there were 3 Kwame Brown's.

Porter isn't a complete unknown of course. He was a very highly rated 5 star recruit. But not seeing how he does against college players is a mark against him, compared to other kids that you did see.

If was injury free and simply missed the year for some non-injury related reason(ala David Robinson) he would likely still be a top 5 draft pick. Had he played this year without injury to the level people expected he would be the consensus No. 1 pick.

I agree with that.

I am simply saying he isn't an unknown.

Also, when you look at the high school players who failed there is almost always a glaring weakness that wasn't found in high school, but perhaps should have been evident.

There are very few players in the world who can combine Porter's size and skill set.

He may very well bust. But if he does I will bet anything it won't be because of his skills or his talent. He might not physically be able to handle an NBA schedule and it is also possible that his back issues sap so much of his athelticism that when he eventually is able to play he isn't the same guy.

But, the kid I saw play last year in high school had every tool needed for NBA stardom. I really hope his body cooperates.

I don't have any clue what will happen with Porter physically. He might be the next brandon Roy.

Talent wise though, he is on the level of Doncic and Ayton at the top of the class. If he busts it is going to be because his body lets him down.

Agree. Imo, it was a great pick by the Nuggets at 14. They can afford to let him "redshirt" if need be.

Worst case, he physically can't play and they only used a #14 pick on him. Still can be seen as a bit of a wasted pick, but not nearly as bad as if it were a top 10 pick.

Best case, he plays like the #1 pick that many had him as before the back injury and the Nuggets got themselves a star.

Lord, ANOTHER friggin' guard...

do something about the CENTER position...

tired of Lopez's slow ass...

Slopez is gone. Only way he comes back is if the Lakers strike out in free agency, and even then he might not be who they choose to sign to a one year deal.
