Under 80K: Husky Stadium (Washington)
Washington is 13-1 at home the last two seasons, winning by an absurd 28.4 points a game on average. That brings back memories from the Don James heyday in the '90s. Chris Petersen has brought that confidence back, and it’s a lot louder than it used to be for opposing teams. Expect that to continue with each year.

The only reason Bryant Denny made the list is because Bama plays there, has nothing to do with the stadium itself. It's not that loud or imposing, just big.

Just Put a tin roof over the stands so all the noise bounces back down and sprinkle some boats in the parking lot . Then it would really be a scary place to play.

Oh and Alaskaguy. I know you have an unstoppable compulsion to post any every article you see before anyone else . But I'm pretty sure this subject has been discussed already over this long ass off season maybe more than twice. Every college football magazine puts out their own lists of the same things. I know it's asking a lot but try to keep track of what you post. We don't need six threads on top ten helmet designs. Just FYI.

Didn't we just have this same thread a couple weeks ago? Do we really need 2 threads on loudest/toughest places to play? Hell do we even need 1?

We are going to have another thread next week with the most scenic stadiums so he can crank another one off to Husky Stadium.

LSU is the most intimidating place I’ve been to especially at night. I’ve heard WV is pretty wild and a drunk fest but I’ve never been.

Auburn was a snake Pitt in the 80s but it has chilled a bit but does get some of the old magic back in big games.

I’ve seen aTm play in the old Cotton Bowl and in Auburn and their fans are the most annoying because they never sit down. That’s plain stupid.

All I remember was 55-14 playing there. Beautiful stadium though.

I would enjoy a best places for a visiting fan to go list. I'm going to the USC Texas game and am trying to figure out where to go in Austin the couple days before the game .

I have found in my life that the toughest stadiums to play in
are the one's that has the home team with the most talent and
the majority of their visitors with zero talent.

The noise level varies with the level of talent on the field

I don't know about Austin...but in Gainesville, the best place is the
Rest Area on South I-75. There are no locals there. (The
pickpockets that work that Rest Area are from Ocala)

The roof is part of it for sure, but over 70% of all seats are from goal line to goal line. It is how they stack up both decks on both sides with most of the fans. I don't think most 70k stadiums are as heavily skewed as that. If they added more seats to rise up toward that 100k mark, they would all be in both end zones (would never happen) and I'm not saying it doesn't add to the sound levels, but not nearly as much as the seats right over the playing surface.

LSU sure as hell isn’t what it use to be.

I’ve never been personally, so It might just be heresay, but I can’t believe how many people tell me Michigan is the biggest, yet quietest venue that they ever have visited. No idea if that’s true, but can’t believe how many friends over the years have told me how quiet that stadium is given it holds over 100 K plus.

I've heard the same thing. Prolly has something to with UM fans being so polite and rational.
