Oh and ive also spent some time in Mexican cartel country so i have specific knowledge of what people from there are subjected to; it's not pleasant.
yet everyone in rural Sinaloa seems to have a brand new pick up truck :)
(many moons ago I went into the jungle there to look at a silver mine)

I think most of our family stories are similar.
My wife came from another country as her family was seeking a better life
My mother came from a different country after WW2, as her parents were seeking a non-blown-up place to live
My father's parents came after WW1, as Canada was giving out land if you agreed to develop and farm it
Canada is only 150 years old - 95% of us came from somewhere else not too many generations back.

immigration builds countries. diversity breeds strength, compassion builds a livable society.

I've been to sinaloa but I've spent more time in the trafficking corridors in Chihuahua and near Nuevo Laredo. Awful abuse of locals. Was actually asked to be an expert witness (of sorts) in a cartel case near Juarez.

But yeah. Immigrants are what we're made of and they generally don't leave their home unless shit gets real.

Northern Sinaloa or Southern?

I've been to a few places but can't say I've been to any mines.

Some openly admitted it was their policy (miller and sessions) and some lied and said it was the democrats fault and there was no such admin policy (notably trump and secretary nielson)

That so many, and especially Sessions, admitted to its intentionality makes it all the more obvious that Trump knows he's lying and intentionally used these kids as hostages.

The US suffers from the scourge of the single issue voter. People who literally only care about one single issue, to the point of obsession in some cases. Some time after Reagan, the Republicans realized that they existed and figured out that all they had to do was pretend to care about their "issue" and they could almost guarantee to stay in power. Because there are enough individual pockets of people who only care about their one thing. Like the ones that only care that no one takes their guns, or that only care that gays can't marry, or that want abortion to stay illegal, etc. You can probably gather close to 40% of the population. Then you only have to fool 10% or so more to stay in power.

And those people could not care less anything he does. As long as he doesn't turn on their single issue. And even then, these types are stupid enough to fall for that "It's ________'s fault" anyway.

Or that. :)

Fucking BINGO!!

Not that I often approve of quoting oneself; but:
Trump’s Supporters Say Outrage Over His Border Policy That Has Separated Families Is “A Manufactured Crisis”

so would this work?
[ ] I am for imprisoning innocent children
[ ] I am against imprisoning innocent children

No. No questions about guns, god or gays. Does not compute.

Did your family come here illegally?

Did your family come here illegally?

1) Asylum seekers cross the border legally simply by merit of selling asylum. Many of the family separations were of asylum seekers.

2) Even illegal border crossing is a mere misdemeanor. And even felons are permitted contact with their families when they're jailed, and certainly an opportunity to reconnect with them upon release, and the kids are allowed to stay with other family or friends of choice. Taking kids away from their parents at the border is universally undue cruelty to the parents, and it's even more heinous to the kids, who make no mistake, are themselves being jailed.

That has nothing to do with my question.

3/4ths of my family are here illegally per United States law (dad's mom side and both mom's side). But they've been here longer than the United States has, sooo.

Dad's dad side came here through proper channels in the 1830s.
