And could sneak into the 8 seed if things go right, health wise.

I'm curious if they keep Joe Harris though.

The way the media treats Howard, you would think he was 39 years old and averaging 6 points/game as a scrub
Then you look down and see he is only 32 and having a late career renaissance in terms of numbers

Played 81 games (dispelling the notion that he is broken and injured)
17/12 on 55% shooting, and even got his FT% the highest in nearly 8 years

he is one of the strangest after-thoughts. It makes no sense how little he is regarded despite the numbers.

This was a good trade for Brooklyn. Dwight was a monster last year, I kept putting him on my draftkings team, he was always undervalued, and he usually put up good numbers. Plus a Dwight, D'angelo, and DinWiddie trio isnt terrible. Plus they'll have room for two max contracts the following season... good move Brooklyn.

BREAKING: Hornets Shock The NBA With Dwight Howard Trade A Day Before NBA Draft

Nets get Howard's expiring contract while the Hornets get Mozgov and a couple of 2nd rounders.

I don't get why the Hornets do this trade.

I do.

I think thy could have done better, but, moving Howard allows them to completely bottom out. Kemba will be next to go.

Cap space doesn't matter for them in the short term because they will suck for at least 2 more years. At that point, they will have some space.

Love this trade for Brooklyn

Why?

What is their direction?

I get they lose Mozgov for an expiring contract, but they appear to be building a 35 win core. They are marginally better again.

Cap space earned for next year isn't going to amount to anything either, because no good player is signing there unless Brooklyn overpays. This, continuing the cycle.

At some point Brooklyn has to bottom out. When is that going to happen? This franchise has no long term plan.

Cmon man.

What max player is signing in Brooklyn?

Not a real max player. Maybe DeAndre Jordan or somebody like that.

You're making a whole lot of assumptions

Brooklyn isn't new jersey bro.

It's a legit NYC market.

At least they are in a position to do something.

Not really.

You need to prove organizational competence on some level before the top tier players will consider you.

Just ask Laker fans about that.

Am I?

I don't think this is a bad move for Brooklyn.

But, those praising it need to pump the breaks and ask what's the long term plan?

He is 32 anc averaged 17 ppg and 13 rpg. I will take that but his salary is just way too high

They also wanted to shed him to give more minutes to Hernangomez. They also still have Zeller at C. Mozgov will be bench-ridden.

He's weak minded. Playing in Brooklyn will be perfect for him; no pressure to actually win and can have some fun in NYC. He has always been more about fun than the hard work it takes to win.
