Word on Twitter is that someone may be added to the Ring soon. Details supposedly coming later tonight. Hmmm.

Moose? Jimmy? Novacek?

I don't see Moose or Jay ever getting in. Jimmy should be there for sure. Jerry will put Ware, Witten and Romo in before long

Jimmy Johnson and Gil Brandt should be in the Ring of Honor.
They were the architects of the COWBOY'S dynasties.

Jay Novacek, agreed probably not - not really even that deserving.

Moose Johnston, I think should be in the ring of honor. Yeah he's a fullback, but he was the longtime lead blocker for the career leader in rushing yards. He was and still is a very memorable player on the 90's dynasty teams, not to mention one of the best fullbacks to ever play the position. And yeah, I'm biased, he was always one of my favorites.

Jimmy Johnson, no question he should be in. I think he is the one going in if there will be only one. Seems the feud between Jerry and Jimmy has finally died down enough that these two somewhat respect each other now. Maybe Jerry finally receiving the validation he desired (HOF induction) has allowed him to finally share some of the glory with Jimmy.

Moose was one of my favorites as well, but the Cowboys have had so many great players, you just can't justify a role player IMO

I kind of agree with this if that makes sense. I was going by what they were talking on Twitter. I was surprised to hear Novacek.

I understand what your are saying but no sentence should ever have the name Jay Novacek and the phrase "not really even that deserving" in it.

He epitomized the DNA of a Dallas Cowboy. The tight end version of Bill Bates with a shorter career.

I think you are right, but if Jay is in, then you'd have to have 60 guys in the ROH

It was just more about the way that was worded.

But at the end of the day there is not enough math in his career to get him in

I don't see any way Novacek s/b in. It's not a list of good or even great Cowboys, it's the absolute best only and he had 6 good seasons for us. Key player, but at his level you need to do it for more than 6 years
Personally I don't put Moose in either.
Jimmy Johnson, yes
Gil Brandt, yes

100% agree on both

As far as players....Love to see Moose
is it to soon for Witten?

Moose does not deserve to be in IMO like Robert Newhouse. Too tall Jones should be in, Many better players from the past. Witten and Jimmy are no brainers.

Hey, I liked Jay Novacek, too! I always fondly remember him as the guy who would wear Cowboy hats and boots with jeans on the sidelines if he wasn't dressing for the game.

Jay Novacek does not belong in the Ring of Honor. He was a solid, above average TE. The Ring of Honor is for greatness.

As far as Moose belonging in the Ring of Honor or not, I get those who say no. One argument I'd make for inducting him would be that Johnston was the best FB the organization has ever had, and he was legitimately one of the best at his position for nearly the entire duration of his playing career. I know FB is a devalued position, but it is a position on the field that up until recently saw significant playing time league-wide. Why can't the Cowboys honor the position and honor the best FB the organization has ever had?
