Tim Salmon's one that comes to mind...not a very long career (about 10 full seasons) but had 299 HR, 1000+ RBI, 128 OPS+ and 40 WAR.
He had a fantastic 1995 season (.330/.429/.594, 165 OPS+, 105 RBI/111 runs in 143 games) but the AL MVP field was absurd. There was no justification for Vaughn winning over Salmon/Thome/Belle/Edgar/Valentin or even Randy Johnson.

Bret Saberhagen, I think people may remember the name, but would be surprised by his numbers if they looked at them.
Royals had a nice little rotation with him and Gubicza. Unfortunately, Saberhagen went to the Mets a couple years after Appier came up and Gubicza turned into a pretty mediocre pitcher.

Oh yeah, and they also had Charlie Leibrandt and Danny Jackson. They had some pretty good rotations in the mid-80's.

Didn't read all the posts but as a Cubs fan Mark Grace was a hellava player. I think he had the most hits in the 90's in MLB.

Johnny Bassler had 5th, 6th, and 7th place finishes in the AL MVP voting from 1922-1924 as a catcher for the Tigres.
His peak for runs scored in a season in that period was 45 and his max RBI tally (by far) was 68.
Johnny also his a grand total of 1 HR in those three seasons.
His BAs were nice, .298 to .346, but guys like his teammate Harry Heilmann were still hitting .400+ in that era.
The pool of players available for voting was limited a bit due to the fact that previous winners were excluded, but the writers of the time still apparently thought Bassler was one of the best players in the AL and it's hard to see why...Johnny's OBPs were great, but that stat wasn't even calculated back then. The record does suggest that Bassler had an outstanding throwing arm, for what that's worth.

BTW, Bassler was also a fine contact hitter, with K totals of 11, 12, and 13 for the years mentioned.

The 1979 Angels had quite the offense.

Also, check out Rich Miller's stats. Stole 3 bases in 1978 while getting thrown out 13 times. A whopping 19% on stolen base attempts.

Hall of Famer Joe Sewell stole 3 bases and was caught 16 times ... 7 K's in 652 plate appearances that year (1927). Only 4 K's in 699 Plate Appearances in 1925.

I'll submit my usual - Jim Kaat. Take a look at his numbers, then go ask one of these faggots today to do what Kaat did. They would file a grievance
