You think they have to be a SB champ to be a better team than the eagles last year?

That's where you fail.

The Pats were all time great in 2007, until they lost to a team that had a 22 point differential for the regular season. That Giants team MIGHT(probably is) the worst SB winner of all-time.

Look man... I hope Wentz makes it back. He’s a SOLID guy. I saw that story on him about the bracelet that he wears. You could see instantly how genuinely sincere he was about that kid and the whole situation.

The fact is (and @PhoenixEagles1 just won’t be real about it) the guy is coming back from major knee surgery. Brady had the same injury and I remember BB calling him out in practice the year he came back that he was “gun shy” stepping into his throws bc that’s how he injured it. Obviously, Brady overcame it but Wentz is much more of an active QB. It’s one of the things that makes him the player he is. The injury has gotta affect him mindset and approach to the game (even if it’s just initially).

They’ve got a great HC there who has full control of that locker room. Winning the SB the way they did certainly solidified that! I wouldn’t rush Wentz back. Any orthopedist will tell you 9 months is not enough for that to fully heal. He’s most definitely the future for that team. Another 6-8 weeks won’t matter in the grand scheme of things (especially if they continue winning).

Nobody wants to see that kid re-injured bc he was rushed back.

I fully agree he shouldn't rush back and risk long term future for a couple of games at the beginning of the year. I'd say he should sit for 2 or 3 games and ride with Foles until he's fully healthy. I fully expect Wentz to struggle for a bit so I figure around mid season he could be back to form or close to it.

So you are incapable of not being a biased homer. Noted.

So saying Dak did not handle him becoming the center piece of the offense due to Elliot being out, and an O-line being only above average rather than top of the league is me being a homer. Even though that is exactly what happened.

I'd rather be one of the 10 worst teams to win the SB than any other team in those seasons.

Dallas fans can keep making excuses though. Maybe their great grandkids will see a ring.

Foles was awesome
Wentz was awesome

Combined they went 16-2 in games they started and/or finished. The eagles were blowing the fuck outta teams with Wentz in there. With Foles the eagles blew the fuck out of the Vikings in the NFC championship.

Without Wentz' play I don't think the eagles get HFT. Most notably probably losing to the Rams. After that all we had to was beat the shitty Giants and Raiders, both games which we struggled.

Honestly this eagles team should go down as one of the best teams in nfl history.

Very good team but not historic

I'd be curious how many teams have won a super bowl with their back up needing to play because the starter is injured? Or how many teams overcame an injury to a HOF LT. Or how many SB teams won 13 games in the 16 game era(all the while tanking the last game to avoid more injuries) Or how many teams won by an average of 16 ppg when their starting QB started the game. Just some food for thought.
 we aren't one of the 10 worst!
Not according to the Sporting News.

I'd say Dallas fans see another Lombardi before the overachieving Eagles.

FYI For what's it's worth as far as I'm concerned the Sporting News is nothing more than an opinion, but it's a published opinion that directly disputes a homer idea that the Eagles are an all time top 10 SB team.

All you need to know about the Sporting News rankings:

#9 Dallas Cowboys(1993)
Record: 12-4
PPG: 23.5
PPGA: 14.3
Difference: 9.2 PPG

#31 Philadelphia Eagles
Record: 13-3
PPG: 28.6
PPGA: 18.6
Difference: 10 PPG

Doesn't make much sense to me.

Different eras and for my money the 93 Cowboys played a tougher schedule when you look at it in a whole.

Eagles had a significantly harder playoff schedule.

I was throwing the fact they won the SB with a back up as a side note. My guess is just based off of looking at the scores of their games, they weren't one of the 10 best offenses to win a title. And there are alot of teams that have gone undefeated that have won a title since they've gone to needing a 12th win/BCS/CFP era.
So what makes Philly a top 10 team of all-time?

I definitely don't think the Eagles are an all time SB team, for the record. Not close. I save that for teams that rolled through the league like the 1994 Niners, etc.

They are a deserving SB team though.

So what makes Philly a top 10 team of all-time?

It's hard to judge them because they were two different teams at least in the regular season after Wentz was hurt. With Wentz they averaged 31.1 PPG, which would rank 5th among all SB winning teams. With Wentz they had a PPG differential that ranked 15th in the league. And there were many occasions where they have up garbage points late in games. But that may have happened with other SB champs during the season too so I won't use that as an excuse as to why their PPG differential isn't better.

As for the playoff run, they are one of only a handful of teams to beat two teams with 13 or more wins during the regular season.

The more I think about it they probably deserve to be somewhere between 10-15.

I may have overstepped my initial ranking. After looking at the stats and what they accomplished during their playoff run, I think they deserve to be anywhere from 10-15. They aren't in the same category as the 84 49ers, 85 Bears, 72 Dolphins, 99 Rams etc.
