I am truly at a loss to explain why this would be approved. Does the ESPN payout make this plausible?

Might not be there network deal...Fox is probably the partner..candidly the more I think about it..I'm okay with it...what bowls really matter other than the Playoff games...if teams and fans want to travel for the holidays and watch their teams..so be it..

Dunno where they will play a game at Myrtle Beach but that's a good site for WVU fans if the tie in works.

Many a Mountaineer fan was conceived the first 2 weeks of July near and in them thar Atlantic waters...:heh:

I would like to see Charleston WV get in on the act personally. Play one at Laidley field with maybe a MAC/CUSA match up.

Heard the Myrtle Beach game is being played at Coastal Carolina... 15,000 seat stadium.

Why the fuck we need more bowl games? That'll make it a total of 43 bowl games to be played in the postseason. It's ridiculous that more and more bowl games are being added, and very little of college football fans don't want to bother watching the shitty bowl games, unless you're a die-hard college football fan, to waste their time.

Here are some interesting stats I've found out on Wikipedia about the history of the bowl games:

- In 1940, there were only 5 bowl games (Rose, Sugar, Cotton, Orange and Sun Bowl)
- By 1950, it was increased to a total of 8 bowl games when three more were added.
- Twenty years later going into the 1970s, three more bowl games were added to make it 11 total.
- By 1980, the count increased to 15.
- By 1990, the count increased to 19.
- By the year 2000, it increased to 25.
- By the 2010s, ten more bowl games were added to make it a total of 35.
- With the birth of the College Football Playoff, it brings a total of 40, minus the CFP National Championship Game.

I totally agree Danny. I miss the days when going to a boil meant something. The only thing I have to look forward to now is when we really do get the aforementioned "Toilet Bowl".

That would hold the attendance at 90% of bowl games......sad

Thats why Id like to see one in Charleston. Laidley holds around 10k. Plenty for a small bowl game, imo it would look better on TV packing those folks in a smaller venue.

Hey Yea there are a bunch of meaningless bowl games but lets face it, they aint goin anywhere anytime soon and its about tv ratings not fan attendance. Even the low end bowl games get better ratings than some of the higher end basketball games so there is your reason for more bowls.
