This reminds me of an incident many years ago:

HERO IN AIR INCIDENT HONORED

NYT said:
A Cornell University law professor was honored this week by the Federal Aviation Administration for helping subdue a deranged man who stormed an airliner cockpit and sent the plane plummeting toward the ground.
...
Professor Henderson, a 6-foot-5-inch tall, 275-pound former Princeton football player, grabbed the man, Christopher Bradshaw, 27, of Baldwinsville, by the neck, punched him and wrestled him to the floor.
...
An Onondaga County Court judge last June found Mr. Bradshaw to be ''dangerously mentally ill'' and committed him to the Hutchings Psychiatric Center. Mr. Bradshaw told his attorney he believed agents from the Central Intelligence Agency and K.G.B. were aboard the flight and would execute him after the plane landed. Mr. Bradshaw said he thought he could escape from the agents if the plane crashed.
Coincidentally, my mother knew the professor. She worked at the Cornell Law School back then. Chris was an active chess player mostly in the Syracuse area, who I had played several times. A friend of mine told me that he noticed that Chris at times showed signs of extreme hyperactivity, such as biting his fingernails until they bled.

The funniest part of the story is the last sentence in the quote. Chris was built like a bowling ball, as in about 5 feet tall, 300 lbs. He had absolutely no chance to escape from anybody on foot.

He's been nuts since before he was drafted, a full career of hits (and now strike 9) on what he's done have made him even more nuts.

I went full circle with him on the bullying, siding with Martin, then with him after Martin tried to ruin his career, then back to Martin after all the craziness came out. Basically, I was choosing sides between nut jobs.

I'd say I hope he gets help, but I don't think he wants it. He'll almost certainly be dead by 40.

Maybe....

That mental disorder is where my mind first went.

And the delusions of government screams paranoid schizophrenic

In college one of my roommates fathers was like this. So bad that he became homeless. He would get super agitated talking about government conspiracies (wild stuff like we are seeing here about being followed). It was really hard on my roommate. No idea how it ended up as we lost touch after college.
