I'm sure that they want ET to get a new contract. But ultimately holding out doesn't do him any good. It's just lost money.

I'd imagine Seattle would be willing to give him a new contract but if ET thinks that the Cowboys are going to back up the Brinks truck for him, I doubt he will take it and the Seahawks aren't going to give the house away.

But the chances of trading are next to zero because any possible compensation won't be worth losing his impact to the team this year.

He's been a vital part of our defense ever since we drafted him. I'm hoping we bring him back long-term somehow.

You bounce between both sides. Saying "I remember when there was a legion of boom" is 100% troll bait.
So someone introduces into this thread insinuating there is still an LOB. No matter how I called him out on that you apparently will call it trolling. Had I said wrong, or no there isn't an LOB any longer...
would that have been better?

Obviously not to the poster who tried to argue there was.

Do we still refer to the RBs of Notre Dame as the four horsemen, the LA Kings line as the French connection or the steelers defense the iron curtain...

I'm not here to pick fights with everybody here and that includes you. I'm here to talk sports with everyone here. It's people like you that don't make it fun and enjoyable.
Do you need a hug?

This is a football forum. Pull up your big boy pants. Everything will be ok.

Somehow we're still calling Oakland "The Black Hole." When exactly has it lived up to its name?

Didn't Kam just hold out a couple seasons ago? So have many other players. I'm not saying whether they are being smart or dumb to hold out. Even players don't speculate on what other players do with regard to their $ and their contracts.

Who knows what senile Jerrah will do?

To trade or not to trade that's always a tough decision.

The question is what will Seattle want in return for Thomas.

Kam did hold out. And then he returned to camp after 2 weeks, short a lot of money and with no new contract. He was also several years younger than ET is right now.

For ET, holding out from games just isn't going do him any good. It will cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars and there is no way the Seahawks will buckle because they can't.

And we shouldn't quite honestly.

Here you go again and you wonder why I keep calling you out. That is a terrible comparison. A group of athlete's from a certain era vs. a fanbase/stadium.

The black hole is named for a section in the coliseum where a bunch of adults think it's Halloween every home game. Even though the Raiders have sucked the black hole hasn't changed their appearance or heckling of opposing teams or their fans. Who knows if it will carry over when the team relocates to LV?

Pardon the pun here but if the Black Hole moves with the Raiders to Las Vegas that's a huge gamble. :drum:

Yep can't disagree with that. Hard decision for JS & PC. Not too unlike the Jimmy Garappollo decision.

He missed all of camp and returned week three IIRC?

There are some notable difference between ET and JG. The biggest difference is that the Pats couldn't franchise JG realistically. The Seahawks CAN franchise ET next year if they so choose.

I thought using the franchise tag on Earl Thomas was no longer an option.

Yup. And the only thing he got out of it was a loss of some paychecks.

Michael Bennett threatened to do the same, missed OTAs, and then showed up at training camp and, IIRC, even said that there was no point in holding out.

I do remember Bennett saying that. And now he's in Philly. Funny how things work out right?

There is that.
The similarities are how hard of a decision it is to trade or hold onto them and get zero in return.
JG up and coming potential star getting his first big contract. ET a proven vet likely getting his last big deal.
