Pretty sure he has to clear waivers now to be sent down, so he's likely on the team once he's cleared to play.

True. I just don't see him having much of a role next season. Maybe in the press box as a 7 or 8. Coming back from essentially 15-16 months off won't be easy.

I'd certainly re-sign him and wouldn't want to lose him for nothing right now, but I'm not super high on his NHL upside at this point. (wasn't really to begin with TBH, he was a pretty big reach that draft year)

I will agree with this especially Grabner but comparing him to Weise is unfair as he brings major speed which you love and penalty killing which we need badly and 50 plus goals in the last two seasons which anyone could use a 20 goals scorer none of which Weise was ever able to do.

Oh ya, didn't mean to compare him to Weise. I like Grabner a lot more than Weise.

Weise was just an example of signing a bottom 6 guy to a long contract and it biting you. Sign those guys to 2 year deals, if they play well in that role, re-sign them when their deal is up. No big deal. They're not worth the long term commitment.

Depending on the new cap ceiling, we will have between $20 and $24 million to spend on just six players. Hagg, Lindblom, Sanheim and Myers could end up being four of those players and none of them will break the bank. Actually, everyone but maybe Hagg will make south of a million per.

That leaves a ton of money potentially available for two more players. Enter John Tavares and John Carlson...Lol

I'm not worried about overspending because Lehtera, MacDonald, Gudas and both goalies come off the books within two seasons, freeing up a lot more cap space.

Yep. As mentioned, not totally sold on Carlson, but I do think the Flyers are a team nobody is talking about in terms of Tavares. They're a very attractive option though. Up and coming team, not a far move, and can pay him whatever he wants.

I think adding Tavares makes the Flyers a top 5 offensive team next year (they were 12th this season).

I've been reading a lot about Taveras resigning with the Isles or him going to Toronto. The only time i hear Taveras mentioned with the Flyers is on this board.

Yea I'm pretty sure Tavares isn't on our radar unless Hexy is trying to be slick about it. Be a great addition but IMO I don't think it happens.

I hope Hexy is keeping a low profile on this and swoops in to grab him at a decent price.

Hopefully Evander Kane's 7 year 49 million dollar contract takes SJ out of the Taveras sweepstakes.

I don't have high hopes for Tavares, it may not even be Hextall's plan. But I do think they'd be an attractive option for Tavares. That's all i'm saying.

I think it should. After that deal they'll only have about $12M in cap space (assuming an $80M cap). Hertl, Thornton, Tierney, and Ward all need contracts, or they need replacements for those guys.

Im not sure Lameriello would've taken the Isles job without being pretty sure Taveras would stay.
