Yeah, with the current CBA, rookie deals are pretty academic. The days of prolonged negotiations and hold-outs are over, aside from the occasional Joey Bosa dingalings.

Can somebody help me understand why other teams' fans seem to think that the loss of Paul Richardson is such a huge deal for the Seahawks offense?

This is one of those cases where if we said something positive about him while he was here, we would have been told that he's a nobody. But now that he left, he's added to the list of key guys we lost and a reason why we are doomed.

Paul Richardson was the #2 and a threat. Shocked that so many forget how important he was in Many of our wins. That being said i was always so worried he was just one hit away from missing the season. I wish him luck and expect him to be a very good WR ( he was one here )

PR was a better WR than Lockett and even though he was fragile i think Lockett is going to prove to be even more so and thats really not a stretch. The way lockett broke his leg was a tackle we see oh 200-300 times a year and maybe 1 or 2 of those end up injuring someone. That someone was Lockett. Love him but he is TINY and SMALL BONED. He is to slight to be a #2 and take all that pounding PLUS return duties.

Sorta funny you're talking about Lockett as being slight in a discussion involving Paul Richardson. That guy was a twig.

Richardson made some good plays last year, but I don't think he ever really developed into the guy we thought he would be when drafting him 4 years ago. I thought he would be a guy who could catch a 5 yard pass and take it 80, and I don't think he ever did that 1 time. He was good getting down field and going up to get a 50/50 ball, but his departure isn't going to be incredibly hard to overcome.

I understand that he had a breakout season with 44/702/6 last year, but he was nowhere the previous 3. It isn't like our offense wasn't top 10 his first 2 years and 12th his 3rd - all three of which he did next to nothing. I just can't imagine that his value his fourth season was so great that finishing 4th on the team in receptions once is gonna make the entire offense fall apart.

Shaquill Griffin started 11 games as a rookie at right cornerback for the Seahawks last season after being selected in third-round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

With Richard Sherman now in San Francisco, the Seahawks have to find a long-term replacement at left cornerback. It appears as though Griffin is being asked to make the switch. In a video wrap-up posted by the team following the first day of OTAs on Monday, Griffin was shown working on the left side of the defense.

When Sherman went down with a torn Achilles last season, Griffin stayed on the right side of the defense with Byron Maxwell taking over as the starter at left cornerback. In Maxwell’s first stint with the Seahawks, he played right cornerback opposite Sherman. Moving Griffin to the left side would allow Maxwell to move back to the right cornerback spot he’s more accustomed to.

Additionally, fifth-round pick Tre Flowers is also working on the right side as he makes the conversion from college safety to cornerback.

Griffin appeared in 15 games with 59 tackles, a sack and an interception in his first season with the Seahawks.

ok i think you all miss read what i was saying. Here let me type it out better for you. Here is what i said "PR was a better WR than Lockett and even though he was fragile i think Lockett is going to prove to be even more" Meaning PR was FRAGILE and i believe Lockett will be even more so.

As far as PR goes he started putting it together at the end of his Rockie year. Then had that bad injury, Played only 1 game the following year ( 2015 ). 2016 he started off slow but you could tell he wasn't 100% still. 2017 he started showing his stuff again, he looked like the guy we saw at the end of 2014. He was never a Catch the ball 5 yards then go 80 type guy. He is a long guy someone to take the top off the defense, Your DEEP threat. Lockett is fast but he is more quick than fast. He is the catch a 5 yard pass and go 80 type guy not Richardson.

Both these guys are slight and i said both are fragile in my post. Thing is Richardson was 6 foot tall Lockett is lucky if he is 5 foot 9 tops.

Lockett is a gimmick WR or slot guy ( uhm Baldwin ) so where is our 6 footer that lines up outside now with the speed to make Safeties take another 3 or 4 steps back before the snap? It was hard to run before think about how hard it will be with safeties lined up in the box because we got no one to force them to play Honest lol. Darboh? yeah right dude was covered like a blanket by Linebackers last season.

i was so high on Darboh, and as soon as i saw him play for us i was so very let down. I am talking about in PRESEASON. Hope he figures it out but i won't lose sleep over him one bit and wouldn't be to shocked to see him cut.

I got nothing against Darboh, i was all excited for the pick because normally our WR picks seem to work at least a little. This guy was pure crap. Now i get his football background wasn't as big as most so maybe he i don't know makes a MASSIVE ( because it needs to be massive ) Leap this year?

Well, I guess we'll see what happens with Lockett. He's proven more durable so far than PR in the NFL, and he also has no injury history in college. On the over/under for Lockett being as durable as Richardson, I'll take the over. And according to multiple sources (NFL.com, ESPN, Pro Football Reference), Lockett is 5'10" and PR is 6'. Both weigh in the low 180s. Lockett was 5'10"/182 at the combine. PR was 6'/175.

I think Lockett is more than just a slot guy, so we'll differ on that one. He isn't some game changing outside threat, but he can do more than just play inside and have to be moved around in order to get open. Have seen him make plenty of those contested 50/50 type catches when split wide at the line.

I guess my overall thoughts on Richardson are: nice player, pretty 1 dimensional, didn't really develop into doing in the NFL the type of things I saw him do in college. Won't be all that hard to move on without him in the offense. The Hawks probably had to make a choice between him and Lockett (not going to pay 3 WRs), and TL helps you a lot more as a returner.

If he does that'd be awesome but if not I think we cut him in the offseason.

Rookie WRs hardly ever do much, especially when they are the 5th or 6th option in the offense. Darboh is dirt cheap and will remain so while on his rookie deal, so the gain from cutting him after year 2 is pretty much nil. The team liked him enough to use a 3rd round draft pick on him a year ago, so it will likely take something substantial (like an off-field issue) for them to cut him after year 2. If he totally flops this season with more opportunity, then it becomes more likely of course, but he doesn't have to make some meteoric rise to stay on the team. We had a similar discussion last year on this board when someone suggested Darboh should have been cut after camp and was then outraged when he made the team instead of Kasen Williams.
