Pretty hard to pick "the greatest" without establishing some criteria.

If I had to pick a greatest in the way that, say, Rolling Stone would, I suppose the top of the list would be Eagles & Bruce Springsteen. They're not my favorite, but it'd be pretty hard to argue against their success and longevity.
