ACC and AAC announce joint officiating alliance for college football

Going to be interesting to see how this pans out. If it leads to better officiating we might see other leagues (although, who would wanna partner with pac 12 officials?).

Army's gotta be happy.

The ACC was supplying officials for Army and Navy and would pawn off Ron Cherry
on Army every chance we got.

Makes sense.

Cost reductions for travel and less wear and tear on officials.

The Leagues overlap each other in a number of states.

Let the officials work closer to their homes and reduce costs.

Depends on where the shitty refs live. It could be great for some teams and murder for others.

Well, it won't help the teams in the Southwest. (AAC)

But the AAC is the old Big East. Just vastly more spread out.

East Carolina in a state with 4 ACC teams.

BC, Syracuse and Pitt...in the same area as UCONN and Temple.

2 Florida ACC schools and 2 Florida AAC schools.

Navy close by to UVA and VPI. Louisville and Memphis close.

If their official's associations had refs located in certain regions, you could
keep them usually in their region and cut down on costs and their time. (Flights)

Financially it seems like a good experiment.

I call this a cost savings measure in a disguise. If Mike Aresco is talking, I am being sold some snake oil.

I don't think they are unionized as they do it for the love of the game or maybe to fix the games.

I heard we contacted Pop Warner but they weren't interested.
