21. Miguel Gomez (IF)

23. C.J Hinojosa (IF)

This trio of infielders are on the same path but couldn’t be more different. Gomez has a legitimate hit tool and enough power to be a threat, but has a terrible approach and doesn’t have a defensive position. Howard has a solid hit tool and does a lot of little things well and is versatile, but doesn’t really have a standout tool and has absolutely no power. He’s well below the “Duffy/Panik/Arroyo” comps. Hinojosa has improved the most as a defender and has some potential with the bat, but tore his Achilles on the last game of the season, which is never a good thing for long-term outlook. Perhaps someone in this group breaks through as a utility bench guy. ML potential all-around here, but limited to bench roles at best.

24. Aaron Bond (OF)

25. Heath Quinn (OF)

Other than having a terrific name, Bond actually has some decent tools for a 13th round draft pick (2017). Good size at 6'4" but with better speed than you'd think for that size. Not a great defender at this time, more of an athlete. His bat is legitimate though. Great bat speed, strong hands and a nice looking swing. If he can stick in CF, the Giants might have a nice diamond in the rough. Quinn's season was destroyed by injuries, first a broken hand in the spring then a shoulder injury shortly after he returned. He never got into a rhythm, which may actually give some hope that he'll turn things around. Before the injuries, he was regarded as a 20+ homer guy with good plate coverage, a potential .300 hitter, a prototypical RF type.

I'm might be leaning more towards a pitcher now after leaning impact bat for so long. There are just so many good ones at the top. IDK it's tough to nail down this year.

Yes, the draft prospect, and the pretty clear #1 OF prospect in the draft.

It is WAY early to really know who the #2 pick will be, although it seems the #1 slot is clearing up a bit. De Sedas seems to have locked up the top slot. As for #2, I have heard the Giants linked to Singer, but I have never been excited by him. I am hoping for Kelenic or Rocker, but whomever the Giants take I will get behind. My entire scoutiing protocol consisted of skimming a couple articles and weighing opinions of others. I hope the Giants do a more exhaustive vetting program.

I keep going back and forth between hitter and pitcher. There's no absolute clear top guy (like the Harpers, Strasburgs etc.), but the top of the draft is stronger than in years past which is nice.

I too am not big on Singer, and would frankly be a bit disappointed going that route. He's probably my number 5 or 6 pitcher right now, there are just some kids dominating.

Shane McClanahan hasn't given up an earned run yet in 31 innings. Big power lefty.

Casey Mize has a 51-3 K-BB ratio in 33 innings, sub 2 ERA.

Matt Liberatore, another big lefty, high schooler.

Ethan Hankins, high school right hander.

I'd easily take those five pitchers over Singer right now, though it could change.

I'm not sure what direction I want the Giants to go though. I'm thinking they could really use an impact pitcher, especially since they're probably getting the top SS prospect on the international market.

As for hitters, love Nander de Sedas, Nolan Gorman is a massive power bat.... but left-handed. Huge risk with AT&T Park. I do like him though, ignoring park factors. Kelenic is up there.

The Liberator is the guy I'd take. Due is tall, throws 92 in HS, and has a wicked deuce. And, he's a lefty.

The Giants are dangerously thin with starting pitchers below the AAA level. Cave represents a solid lottery ticket from the 2017 draft. Exciting fastball/breaking ball combination, holds his velocity through the game. Massive control issues. Typical Giants’ project. Johnson’s stock has taken a huge hit, but still has a full arsenal and a real good changeup. Put injury bug behind him.

I'm going to go position by position for a few reasons. First, it would be way too long to do all levels in one post, so I decided to break it up. Thought about going level-by-level, but it's easier to lose track of guys that way. If I go position by position I have all the guys neat and tidy in one spot. Of course the downfall is I will probably have roster sizes that exceed the limits. We'll see. Also, this is my best guess but injuries play a huge factor. I know of a few guys that are injured, but I'm sure there are more that will start in extended spring training. Leggo:

Very cool. I've got similar projections for many of those guys. When did Coonrod have TJ surgery? I don't remember hearing anything about that.

IIRC, he had it last year. That’s why he was able to be DFA’d without losing him...

He wasn't DFA'd, just left unprotected for the rule-V draft. No one took him because TJ (though a team COULD have taken him and stashed him on the DL all year).

It was VERY quiet, in fact I didn't believe the person who told me at first until they provided their source. Not a single word from the Giants.

He went down with a mystery injury in August, had surgery on 9/6/17
