Who I think have a shot to be the linebacker corps. I want Dedrick Young out of the starters. He has done nothing. Not a playmaker. Does not make turnovers happen. Has he ever made a tackle when Nebraska needed it the most? Don't think so.

New coaches means new chances. I think the coaches will take chances on players. Obviously, if a player does not understand the playbook, that is a negative, but if that same player flies around the field in practice and makes plays even though he misses assignments, he is playing. Eventually, he will understand more of the playbook because that can be taught, you cannot teach effort and the ability to make plays.

Ruud wants studs at linebacker. Playmakers. Turnovers.

1. Luke Gifford - hands down, the best linebacker coming back. Has to be a starter.
2. Will Honas - as I said earlier, I think every JC player will be a starter.

After those two, it gets murky for me

3. Mohamed Barry
4. Avery Roberts
5. Quayshon Alexander
6. Caleb Tannor - Ruud probably told him he could be a starter

The Spring Game will make me look like more of an idiot than I already am. The coaches will probably have Dedrick Young in there.

eh, i feel as if you are judging people based on what previous staff was trying to do with them. I'm fine with whomever falls out from the new staffs teaching. I agree though, Young looked decent freshmen year but showed little improvement the last 2 years. the 2nd year was the most confusing as he should have gotten better being in the same system. Last year, i really can't say anything, just because it's become clear Diaco wasn't a good fit.

i'd agree though with 1&2. After that, as i said, whatever the coaches decide, be it Young or the other 4 on your list. You also didn't put Ben Stille, will be intersting if he's in the LB group or DE, but he was listed on last year's depth chart at LB. Also got Alex Davis and Collin Miller, both showed some potential last year when i saw them on the field.

Honestly, I think Honas is the only lock to start. Gifford more than likely but not guaranteed. Make 'em compete!

Bobby Boucher is starting for sure

Then Barry and Gifford, Rock Paper Scissors for the rest. Chinander said Stille is moving back to DL

I had to look up who Bobby Boucher is/was. I am not an Adam Sandler fan so that explains why.

I thought Ben Stille looked the best last year. He is the perfect size for 3-4 OLB and he was BIG all freshman team. Should be a good group.

I think when the staff learns how bad we are at OLB they might think about moving him back, he’s getting pretty big though. I’d love to see Jurgens at OLB

Yea I think he would be a good fit as well. I think a move for him is inevitable since they took 3? TEs in this class. All taller than Jurgens. Looks like they value that quite a bit. But who knows, he may be the only one that can block.

HuskerOnline.com - Fall Camp Preview: Linebacker

I guess Like Gifford's injury is worse than I thought.

Mentioned in the article

Dedrick Young
Mohamed Barry
Will Honas
Breon Dixon
Caleb Tannor
Tyrin Ferguson
Alex Davis
Colin Miller

Quayshon Alexander and Avery Roberts are all but disappearing.

Guess I stick to Monday Morning Quarterbacking.

I might be going to fan day on August 18. Not written in stone, yet.
