lmao, this is currently on DeAndre Ayton's wikipedia page:

DeAndre Ayton (born July 23, 1998) is a Bahamian basketball player who currently plays for the Arizona Wildcats in the Pac-12 Conference (Pac-12) in the 2017–18 season. He was a consensus five-star prospect in the Class of 2017. In January 2017, Ayton was selected as a McDonald's All-American.[1] In 2017, Ayton signed a $100,000 contract to play for the Arizona Wildcats.

I've always had a neutral opinion on Arizona. Not quite a blue blood, but still a great program.

When I think about it this sucks, b/c their fans really seem to be passionate about their hoops program.

I don't see how Miller can survive this. I honestly don't understand it either. He's at Arizona, the only other school in the conference that recruit at their level is UCLA and to an extent Oregon. Unless he's been doing this the whole time, he shouldn't have had to reduce himself to paying a recruit to come to Arizona.

Now it makes sense that UOFA brought in Lorenzo Romar! They knew this was coming.

Miller is toast. There's probably a better chance of Kentucky renaming Rupp Arena to Rupp-Pitino Arena than there is of Miller coaching next year.

I think he felt the pressure of not having made the Final 4 and felt his job was in jeopardy.

He needed that edge to get him over the top.

For some of the schools though, its ridiculous. Duke paying a player to come to Duke is like Kate Upton paying to get laid. There's no reason for them to pay players.

The NCAA tourney final in the year 2019 will be Towson State versus Northern Arizona by default.

I bet you anything the bubble schools cheat as much as anybody.

Making the tournament and winning a game or two pretty much instantly catapults a coach into a big time program vacancy and contracts worth millions of dollars.

The Duke to Upton comparison was weak.

When your trying to maintain an edge over the competition, yes. Especially the one and done mills. Duke is trying to land commits who could choose UNC, Kentucky, Louisville, etc.... it’s not like their the only marquee program out there. And can just sit back and a perfect set of recruits arrives every year automatically. Even USC football, which has the greatest built-in recruiting advantage in that nation has to worry about schools like Bama and Ohio St. taking some of their top targets away from them.

Miller is toast. Bunch of others from big programs are as well. This is just getting started.

As for Romar, good luck Zona with that. Nice guy persona, but totally underachieves most of the time. Get ready for lots of season ruining slumps and crap defense.

I guess it's possible but doubtful. Coach K has built in job security until he's a vegetable. No reason for Duke to systematically give $ to recruits.

To be honest, I really don't think Kentucky is dirty either.

BTW, great timing by the FBI leakers. A week before March...

I'm not saying Coach K is dirty. But this is going to impact NCAA basketball like a ton of bricks. Coaches that are dirty will be out. The ones who weren't aware, well the programs could still get hit hard because if it's perceived your compliance dept was keystone cops on purpose, like USC's during the it's recent sanctions, then the NCAA can go to town on you.
They got extra nailed because their athletic dept compliance was purposely a joke to help with recruiting, massaging grades, and turning a blind eye to obvious players and their families getting money from agents, and sports apparel entities.

Even if the coaches and AD dept's weren't aware, if these players ultimately ended up being taken high in the NBA draft, the NCAA could hit them really hard. For example sake.

Unless I see a coach tied to it, a lot of this stuff is stupid and I don't see much happening with it, especially the dinner stuff. They'll do something, but it won't be much beyond wrist slapping. Like how you can expect a program to manage if some agent shows up to a recruit's house and takes them to dinner? This isn't the huge bomb that's been played up. Now if they get tons of coaches with what they got Miller on, now we're talking. But don't give me some BS list with chump change loans and dinner tab pick ups
