You wouldn't like a Cobra then. It is hard to get in and out of, small door, small(low back)seat. It has a fat transmission tunnel, so when you are seated(passenger side) your feet are shoved to the right. You have to be careful not to burn your leg stepping over the side pipes when getting out. Did I mention that it doesn't have a roof? You have to pay close attention to the local weather forecasts. :rain:

....and you'll be yawning while you watch that 10 speed auto trans equipped vehicle's rear lights slowly disappear from your view.

Back in the 60s, 70s and maybe early 80s, a manual tranny was probably the better option. But not today. LOL!

You can't shift a vehicle anywhere near as fast or accurate as the computer tells that automatic to shift. Not even close. You can set the shift points now with a programmer to shift at the red-line or slightly above....and get this....it will do it exactly like that...every time.

98% of the population does not actually need that 0.1 sec quicker 0-60 time.
Even though the auto will do a 3.9 vs the manual 4.0....they never goose the throttle hard enough to accelerate to 60 in 10 seconds.
But bragging rights! IF I wanted to I could....If my wife takes my balls down from the shelf for me...

Fuck that. I would rather have the MAN ual transmission because it is more engaging and therefore more fun.

If you are using every ounce of power and extracting all the performance available then good on you.

This...No Leg Pipes....

SHELBY+COBRA+427.jpg

Sorry man, but no thanks! I love my side pipes. There's not much on the road today that has the sound(roar) of a Cobra! Stepping over the pipes to me is not a big deal. Some don't like it. But seeing a Cobra with out side pipes just isn't right IMHO.

I fully understand.
Originals did not have them except for the S/C.
Nor did they have hood scoops, roll hoops, and they had either full bumpers or at least bumperettes.

I would like to build one myself with a couple of the S/C features, namely the hood scoop and roll hoop, except twin hoops for balance rather than the "purist" single. With high back buckets.
I also like the polished stainless fender guards right behind the doors.
Torn between bumperettes or nothing.
I love the muscular look of the side pipes. I also love the cleaner look of rear exhaust.

It was spring of 1988, I had just started working construction building a hotel in Waterville Valley NH.
My winter beater at the time was a 1979 Mercury Cougar XR7 with a 351M and super tall rear end gears.
I needed to trade it in on something that had fewer miles as my drive was 99 miles each way.
After stopping at 5 dealerships, I found a 1985 Mazda RX-7 that turned out to be a blast to drive. By minutes I missed the opportunity to buy one of these.

1985 Ford Thunderbird 30th Anniversary Sport Coupe.
5.0 with an AOD, and essentially a Turbo Coupe underneath. I saw it at the Subaru dealership in Barre VT on my way home from the Ford dealership in South Barre VT in my new to me RX-7.
It was so beautiful I stopped anyway.
One of the used car salesman had JUST bought it. he was literally putting his plates on it as I pulled in.
It had been traded in the day before and he had been contemplating it all day.

If I had hesitated a moment on the Mazda and made 1 more stop...

My car is 53 year old technology(1965), so I don't expect it to be the fastest on the road. But I will say, it will blow away about 95% of the strictly stock vehicles on the road today. To me that's impressive! I bought mine because of the history behind it. I bought mine because it is a classic! I bought it for show! In 2017, it has already won 6 trophies! ......4 for best in show!

I'm not looking to out run/out shift you. But I will say, it is fast, it dynod @ 506 RWHP for a 2400 lb car!

This video shows 494RWHP, but if you look closely the clip falls off the primary before the test is finished! enjoy!

I never saw a lot of these Buicks.
More of a low profile kind of muscle.
The 455 Gran Sport Stage 1 was fucking fast.

Ford Shelby GT500 spied with little camo, upgraded aero and hood vents
gt500-uc09-kgp-ed-copy-1.jpg

We know the Ford Shelby GT500 is coming. We don't have many details, but the unexpected teaser we got back in January did say the car will have more than 700 horsepower. It seems the Dodge Challenger Hellcat and Chevy Camaro ZL1 have some competition on the way. Everything we've seen until now has been veiled, but this new batch of spy photos gives us our best look yet at the hottest Ford Mustang

Duck the three cars mentioned here, give me the Front End lifting Dodge Demon.

Watching Barrett Jackson and saw a car that looked just like what a friend of mine had back in 1976.
His didn't look this good.
His had bondo in every corner.

The one in the pic must be a 15'-17', they changed the headlights and front bumper on the 18's. I like these but I think I like the lights en sech on my 15' better.

I remember these cars.
AMC Javelin. Some had big engines.
Not many, but some.

I don't remember if they were fast or not, but they caught my eye as a kid.

Never liked any of the Javelin/AMX cars.

They always came up short in the engine areas.

My friends dad had one of these. He used to take us out and scare the shit out of us every once in a while. I know they arent the giant motor muscle cars like some, but these were a blast. My neighbor has one, and he let me drive it around a little. was like a dream come true.
