Kirby Smart has been on the job 2 years now. The 2017 UGA recruiting class was the best the school had ever signed until the 2018 class rolled around, and even in the transition year, he still managed to hold on to the 6th ranked class.

Georgia doesn't have Michigan's history to sell to recruits, and Georgia is fighting the likes of Bama, Clemson, Auburn and the Florida school for recruits.

What's Harbaugh's excuse again?

Georgia also sits smack dab in the middle of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the county

Ohio has a lot more talent than Michigan, but isn't exactly a Georgia, Florida, Texas or Cali, but Ohio State recruits nationally about as well as any program I've seen.

Again, what's Harbaugh's excuse?

I mean, how does Georgia nab the number 1 recruit from the state of Illinois? Number 3 TE in the country, and Michigan needs offense, and Illinois is more in Michigan's footprint than Georgia's.

Yall have a better game day coach, and have proven to be able to beat more talented teams on a regular basis. You have plenty of room to mock them.
Well, for now they do...

This thread must be bullshit because all I've heard for years now is that Jim Harbaugh was going to kill it in recruiting due to sleepovers and satellite camps.

@TrustMeIamRight can't be wrong, I mean look at his name.

Hmmmm...........'Sleepover and Satellite Camp'.......

......you know what? If/when Harbaugh retires from football, and perhaps decides to open a restaurant/sports bar in Ann Arbor, 'Sleepover and Satellite Camp' would be a damn good name for such an establishment.

Perhaps Jimmy could entice John L Smith as a partner, and open a 2nd location in East Lansing: 'Sleepover, Slap, and Satellite Camp'.

I won't act like it doesn't concern me that we didn't land a 5 star player or a top 100 recruit. I get caught up in this stuff just like everyone else. Last spring when we were getting commitments from 3 stars and low 4 stars I wondered WTF myself. I read an article though about how Harbaugh felt he had 2 strong classes and wanted to use this class to get guys with specific skill sets to fill specific roles which is why he ended up with a lot of lower rated guys that most of us would have expected. If this truly was a plan, it's a sucky plan IMO. I'd rather you find extremely talented guys to fill specific needs. Obviously I like it even less if we just couldn't pull better players this year and I am certainly not dismissing that this is actually the case. Either way our opinions on it doesn't really matter, just the results. We'll see how it works out. I mean look at what MSU does with a similar level of recruiting every year.

As far as "whiffing" on players, the only player we whiffed on is Otis Reese. He was committed and then flipped on signing day. It wasn't surprising but it was certainly a whiff. The others, if you never really had a chance to sign them, I don't see it as a whiff.

That article sounds straight retarded. Did it happen to be written by @MAIZEandBLUE09?

LOL "We really need to stock up on LBers and defensive backs. I can't see any 4-5* guys that will fill the role as well as these 3* kids, I'm a genius"

If you didn't have a chance to sign them, they wouldn't be on campus for an official visit OSU week

The problem is, if you want to be "elite" having a year where your class finishes in the 20s puts you another step behind the big dogs.

Yea finishing 20-25 is good if you take into account that there are 120 or whatever FBS teams, but those teams who usually finish around those spots arent the national contenders, "good teams" but not top level ones.
Michigan needs to win "something" before we can think about becoming elite. I don't think we're going to make the jump from where we are to OSU level without doing something like winning the division, conference or beating MSU/OSU in a single season.

I have no issue with loading up on players in a relatively shallow position.....I do have an issue with only taking 2 OL players. Again, it's probably not a major issue this year but puts extra pressure on next year to get 4-5 of them. Michigan needed to add another in this class and I'm not sure why they didn't target a lower ranked player for the spot.

The Larry Nasser abomination has far surpassed the so-called "sleepover and satellite camp." I wouldn't be throwing any stones. . . .

Yes but Larry Nassar has absolutely nothing to do with football or Mark Dantonio.

Sad? I think it's funny as fuck. That's why I'm sitting over here, laughing all three balls clear off.

Has more to do just football tho. A lot to do w football, the university as a whole are under fire for being racist, engaging in extreme nut job politics etc...losing a lot of support from Alumni.

Between MI and Sparty, MI is sporting a huge black eye right now. Western is probably the most respected school in the state right now.
