Following a record decline in TV ratings for the regular season, the NFL’s four divisional playoff games hit new lows, according to overnight ratings in the country’s biggest markets.

The amazing finish in the Saints-Vikings game on Fox earned a 21.8 overnight rating, down 23 percent from last year, according to Sports Media Watch. The TV audience for the game was the lowest overnight rating since 2009 and the third-lowest for the late Sunday Divisional Round game since 2002.

Meanwhile, the Jaguars-Steelers game, in which the underdog Jaguars won 45-42, drew a 20.4 overnight on CBS, down 7 percent from last year.

On Saturday, NBC’s Falcons-Eagles game drew a 17.4 rating — down 5 percent from last year.

The lowest-rated playoff game was the Titans-Patriots match-up, which drew a lowly 16.6 rating on CBS, down 9 percent — and the lowest since 2000.

So the take-away is: nobody cares to see the Patriots

I think Patriots Titans put half the country to sleep so those ratings are skewed. The TV may have been on, but nobody was watching.

Id say the rating was more like a 8.5.

I said this last week, and its not really the Patriots fault, but people are finally sick of seeing the typical Pats punching bag opponents in these AFC playoffs

id bet your wifes wet bags this is the lowest rated AFC Title game ever

Im as big an NFL fan as their is, and I know I finally had enough, took the wife out for a night of wine, champagne and penis (my wife this time) during the Pats game

in before some Pats fan starts posing winning percentages against other divisions.

Playoff games are on at stupid times, but the NFL totally fucked itself when it didn't support our great President.

People have a bunch of things to do these days, more than ever. Also, many other ways to follow NFL. I would like to see to a compounded rating which takes into account other media. Traditional TV is at an all time low in ratings, not only the NFL. In some overseas markets, it is becoming more popular.

There is a small possibility that next year is an absolutely amazing year, though.

Possibly 3 or 4 QBs going in the first round, Garappolo starting from week 1, Mahomes possibly starting for KC, possibly Alex Smith somewhere else, possible Cousins somewhere else.

Rodgers back.
Luck back.
Watson back.
Wentz back.
Tannehill back

Maybe Bradford, Bridgewater and possibly Kaepernick somewhere.

Maybe Trubisky improves. Maybe Goff continues to improve.

I think 2018 is going to be a fantastic year if Brees, Big Ben and Brady are still kicking. You might be looking at every team in the league thinking that they have a QB.
