Good for him.

He's had some ankle injuries...maybe he believes he's not going to be able to be at his
best before the combine and that could hurt his draft stock or maybe he just likes college.

He doesn't need to go to the NFL. He's at Stanford. He'll make bank immediately once he graduates whether it's in the NFL or in corporate America.

He's a tough runner. I'd tell him to go to the NFL because of the injuries hes had. But it's nice to see a guy stay in school.

I don't see an NFL future with him......just like the last several guys they had outside of McCaffery

Any RB with Love's speed and his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, has a very good future in the NFL. Love is not "a track star that happens to play football, Love is a football player that happened to run track".

I'll put it this way......how I evaluate RBs is probably different from most of you.

NFL RBs need to be EXCEPTIONAL in one area, and very good in another......they can't be one trick ponies. If you are a power back, but you don't have vision or speed, you won't do well. If you are a speed back, but don't have vision or the ability to break tackles, you won't do well.

This is why guys like Reggie Bush failed......this is why McCaffery will likely be a WR longterm, he can't run between the tackles, he'll never be a full time RB.

I see the same issues for Love.

I think VISION is the greatest ability a RB has, and it's extremely rare. I think the second ability that is rare is the ability to make guys miss in small spaces, in a phone booth. Think Jamaal Charles in his prime or Barry Sanders......you can be 3 inches in front of him and miss completely.

Outside of those skills, burst through a hole, breaking tackles, and top end speed are important. But the fact is most RBs at the collegiate level don't excel beyond one or two of these areas. Which is why most end up as journeymen or practice squad fodder even after putting up huge numbers in college.
