What the hell? Did you not have ice cleats or somethin? Hope you caught a few at least.

Here's my saga this week. We were all set for Saturday morning. I had all the gear loaded and the bait in my stream. Had a nice taco dinner and turned in early. Well about 11pm the fucking stomach bug got me and I woke up puking! FUCK! I puked and shit water for 5 hours straight and had to cancel on my buds. Layed around like a dishrag all Saturday. Still weak, I went for it yesterday and we tried again. The conditions were brutally cold but with a heated shanty and a barrel fire, we managed the long haul into a farm pond created by a river cove that cut off and now floods each spring. Nice to see that we were the first to cut ice this year and we got in a dozen type.

My buddy got this decent Bass right off the bat:

When a bass that size has a bite mark on it's side, you know there's some big pike in this pond. No such luck though. I got a small pike, my other buddy got a small bass and a perch but nothing big. Felt good to finally get out but man it whipped me pretty good. It was 1 degree with 14mph gusts.

Froze my ass off yesterday on the ice. Temp was about 2 degrees with 20 mph winds. Brutal.

Slow bite yesterday as well which didn't help.

That's nasty. We're supposed to get into the 30s and 40s this weekend so I'm hoping we can get out.

We've had high temps this past week, in the 40's en sech. I was worried the ice season was over already. But to my surprise we had 8-10 inches still on Saturday.

The cats were biting good, too.

Still plenty of ice out there. Caught an 18.5 inch largemouth bass on Saturday, probably 4 to 4.5 lbs.

Inch and a half shy of a Master Angler.

Still the largest bass I've ever pulled through the ice. Super fun

How the hell did I miss this thread for the entire ice season?
I had a decent season. This was I best ice season in probably 10 years or so. Next year will be the first in about 4 years that I wasn't moving in December/January. I put my gear away on Monday. Most of it anyway. Still gotta drain the auger and fog the cylinder.
Until next year, my fellow iceheads.

Took my wife to Scheels today, looking to get a few spools of ice line and some Lindy Glow Spoons.

Walked out with 8 new spoons, ice line, New head lamps, a Little Buddy Heater and the new Otter XT Pro X-Over Lodge. She fell in love with the side entrance doors. I'm sure it's the largest two man shelter I've ever seen.

Of course now I have a two year old Clam Voyager TCX that 8 have to unload.

The otter is about 25 pounds lighter than the clam. That will be nice.

2 pound line
1/16th oz spoon tipped with wax worms
Mostly pan fish (Perch, crappie bluegill), with the occasional walleye and Northern.

Wow, 2lb line for Walleye and Northern?

I have real trouble trying to knot anything less than 10lb line.

Lol, it takes some patience to land them on that light line. They aren't as bad as the catfish are.

I don't have trouble with the knots but some of the jigs I use are tiny. I actually bought a pair of jewelers glasses to wear for them.

Where were you? Up North I'm guessing? We're probably a few weeks away still from having enough ice for my liking
