State's John Currie, previously Hamilton's assistant AD during the Fulmer-Kiffin-Dooley fiasco. Currie was relieved of duties ~9 months into his 5-year contract, and Phat Phil became acting AD for the next two years.

Can you bring to mind any greater failure, any more mortifying failure during all of the 2017 CFB season?

For Michigan to collapse into obscurity, no one would have to recognize them ... apparently they are front and center on a lot of people's mind. If you were to say Michigan regression (or hopefully retrogression) then your poll may be valid.

I don't think either of those were the biggest fail of 2017. I would pick the Pac 12 division as a whole, Clemson losing to Syracuse OR Baylor losing to Liberty as the biggest fail of 2017
