I'll believe they'll actually trade Manny when I see it. He is clearly going to walk next year weather we get anything in return for him or not.

I wanted him to be traded last June of course they thought they could somehow compete with that terrible rotation.

Better late than never but I feel like Peter won't trade him regardless.
we have mountcastle to play third get us some pitching and we are a better team . I like manny but he is not worth 20 plus millions for years and years .

Oh ted, that's just a ridiculous statement my friend. We are NOT a better team without Machado, period. Either way, Machado leaves via trade, we are in complete rebuild having so many other final year contracts. A balloon contract with Davis we will never get out of and a player (Trumbo) that nobody wants. Get ready for another decade (unless Peter relinquishes the team) of very bad baseball in B'More.

"12:06pm: The Cardinals have struck a deal to acquire outfielder Marcell Ozunafrom the Marlins, according to Craig Mish of MLB Network Radio (via Twitter). MLB.com’s Jesse Sanchez confirms the move on Twitter but notes it is pending a physical. Indications earlier today were that the deal was moving closer, and it has evidently now been completed."

I;m guessing that takes them out of the Manny running.

I was hoping that they were going to trade him, among other players last July and start a rebuild early, like the Yankees did the previous season. You're right, we were not going to go anywhere with that awful rotation that we had, which is why we should've just had a fire sale and started rebuilding as much as we could.

I think that the Phillies have always been the frontrunners for him, unless there's some secret teams that are willing to give up a good amount that I'm unaware of.

THURSDAY, 12:20am: Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (insider subscription required and recommended) reports that the White Sox have been the “most aggressive” suitor for Machado. Their goal seems to be to acquire him and attempt to extend him for the long term. Bob Nightengale adds in a tweet that the offer from Chicago was “the best offer of the dozen offers the Orioles have received.”

Rule V Draft;

10. Orioles – Nestor Cortes, LHP, Yankees

He's only 23 but never pitched in the majors. Career 2.08 era in the minors over 324 innings. 344 strikeouts in 324 innings with only 76 walks.

Seems to have great command, seem to be a great pick up if he can pitch in the majors.

THURSDAY, 4:04am: A source close to Bruce Levine of CBS Chicago confirms Rosenthal’s earlier report that the White Sox are one of the lead teams for Machado.

THURSDAY, 2:53am: Nightengale reports in another tweet that the Orioles are “moving aggressively” on trade talks involving Machado, noting that Baltimore believes they can move him by the end of the week.

From Buster Olney: • As of Saturday morning, the Chicago White Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks had demonstrated the most interest in Manny Machado, according to AL sources. Some execs involved in the talks still wonder if Baltimore Orioles owner Peter Angelos will give a final approval to a Machado deal in the face of some negative fan reaction. But a lot of Baltimore fans are sophisticated and understand that Machado won’t re-sign with the Orioles after 2018, and that swapping him gives the franchise its best chance to acquire young pitching talent.

From bad to worse.

In a stroke of terrible luck for lefty Zach Britton and the Orioles, the closer has suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon during offseason workouts, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (via Twitter). Britton is expected to be sidelined for at least six months, meaning the best-case scenario will be a return over the summer.

Is it to late for that? When is the cut off? If they could I would non tender him. Say he comes back in July? He'll have 2-3 weeks to prove he has any value and then we can trade him for a PNL.

Every O must go: After losing Zach Britton, it's time for Orioles to trade Manny Machado

Really wish we'd just start a fire sale and have anyone available that can yield a good return. I think that not doing anything by the deadline this past season with Manny and Britton is going to hurt us in the long run.

I wanted a fire sale last June/July. I wanted them to trade Jones, Manny, Britton, Brach, Castillo, Seth Smith, Trumbo.

Peter thinks he can some how win with this team against the Yankees and Sox.

"Indications are that the market for Orioles third baseman Manny Machado could wrap up soon, and team president of baseball operations Dan Duquette seemingly confirmed that is indeed the case. The organization does not intend to “focus on that much more after tomorrow,” Duquette told reporters including Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com (via Twitter). There’s no indication that the injury to Zach Brittonwill change the club’s plans, though it stands to reason that it could add at least some impetus to the possibility of a trade."

So we're not going to trade Manny. I can't wait to see how many millions the Yankees give him next offseason while we receive nothing in return.

The new Oriole way, do the dumbest thing possible. :mad2:

You and I were in the same boat on that idea.
