Gotta give that guy credit. He took over at Florida Atlantic which was coming off of 3 consecutive 3-9 seasons to go 10-3 and qualify for a bowl game. Even with the baggage he brings I can't help but think he will be the head coach at a major program in the next few years.

I have to admit I was no big Kiffin fan when he was at USC, but now I kind myself pulling for the guy.

After his wife dumped him for being a loser and ended up with more than 50% of his gross earnings in the divorce?

Karma has been kicking him in the sack for a few years now. And I think he's got a bit more coming to him. Who knows.

Ability to coach and ability to recruit have never been Kiffin's problem. It's always been his ability to keep his idiot mouth shut/immaturity that has tripped him up.

If he can/has learned to do a better job of that, then, in a few years, I could see a major program giving him a shot and being glad they did.

At USC he recruited amazingly. But I didn't think he coached very well. He was much too conservative, for instance running bubble screens way too often. I think he was too afraid of making mistakes.

I think he is an excellent coach.

I think he took the Oakland Raiders job waaaaayyyy to early. He had no business
going there. Just it being offered to him gave his ego a belief he was ready for
the big-time, when he really wasn't.

How he left Tennessee didn't do him any favors. Although here we are a few years down
the road and he could be described as being utterly brilliant for getting out of that shithole
as fast as he could.

I liked his mouth at Tennessee. He wasn't bashful. He ripped Meyer a new one when Meyer was
at UF. UT was mad because he could have had some success there. But look at the revolving
door since he departed UT.

He was just the type...probably because of his age and mouth...that folks liked to ridicule. His
mouth doesn't follow the fake protocol that College Coaches are supposed to present. He's
outside the box and that isn't allowed.

What he did to UT was no different than what Taggart just did to Oregon. Nobody picking
on Willie. In retrospect, what he did was even more impressive. He went home to SC when
nobody in the country wanted to take on the mess Carroll left.

He's kinduva unique. He can coach and he can recruit. He's not getting much action now,
although Florida State had an eye on him. He was a bit down on the list, but we still had an
eye on him.

Somebody already wrote in this thread, an SC fan, that He will get another chance one day
and whoever selects him won't regret it. He just needs the right fit and he'll make some school
successful.

He runs the bubble screens over and over to make the secondary play tight and close then he makes you bite and goes long. Everything is to setup the long ball and it works. Auburn does the same with its zone read in that it trick defenses into ignoring the fakes then they switch gears.

It works for scoring points.

It's absolutely dogshit for sustaining drives.

Kiffin's done very well at Florida Atlantic, most impressive coaching job he's done yet

I think he's at home there though

It's a place small enough that Kiffin can be the odd goofy guy he is and the administration loves it because this is by far the most Florida Atlantic has ever been talked about

several folks probably didn't even know they existed before Kiffin went to coach there this year

He will absolutely get another shot at a P5 and shouldn't feel desperate enough to take the first dumpster fire that dials his agent. He would be smart to just keep doing his thing there and wait for the right fit.

Interesting, Oregon should be ready for a new coach by then.

Thoughts @OregonDucks?
