Should the SEC adopt a 9 game conference schedule?

Understood. I just hopped in the middle, so my apologies. I'm fine with not counting neutral games away games, but when Georgia Tech is located 1.7 miles away from the venue I don't know how that would be considered a neutral game. I'm fine with making the rule that you can only schedule 2 non p5 OOC games, but like the 8 game conference schedule. :2cents:

USC played Syracuse at Met Life. Yes its like 200 miles from Syracuse but its 2800 miles from USC lol. Neutral site game.I'm used to seeing USC play every team when it was the PAC 10 but now with 12 teams I wouldnt mind it going to 8 but no way I'd want to sacrifice a conference game so teams can play another cupcake.

200 miles is similar to 1.7.

I wasn't the first one to bring up Oregon State. lol. That was 420. I just kept using them to make the comparisons look silly since he brought them up. Before bringing Oregon State up he should have checked to see they have finished ranked 5 fives since 2000 and play more true road games than most if not all of the SEC teams. Shit how many home games do SEC teams get a year 7-8? LOL. That's fking crazy.

Only a Jarhead would think he gets to say random stupid shit on the internet and not be called on his bullshit.

Oregon St played 5 road games this year. 7 SEC teams did the same. I'm guessing 7/14 is something less than most if not all.

And that doesn't even begin to cover shit like Florida/Georgia in Jacksonville or Arkansas and A&M in Dallas or SC/NC State in Charlotte.

Look, I'm sorry that Oregon St is so shitty that Colorado State convinced them to go to Ft Collins, but that's life.

Pretending that Oregon St is not shitty because they were ranked sometime in the 2000's is not helping your cause. Their 1 win this year was 35-32 over an FCS team that went 0-11, I'm frankly not convinced that they aren't the worst P5 team.

Isn't Chattanooga Tenn like 2 hr drive to Atlanta? lol. Yeah GT is close but it's not like Tenn is three time zones away.

LOL, it's actually 242 to Syracuse, but keep pretending that is the same as literally walking distance.

What does Chattanooga have to do with anything?

I googled it and it says 175 miles/2hrs 17 minutes.

Knoxville is 213 miles from Atlanta if that helps anything.

Are you trying to argue that Tennessee didn't travel far enough?

I don't care what you think. Shitty Oregon State was ranked at times when probably the majority of SEC teams wern't. Keep trying to convince people thats the same as scheduling Mercer and Citadel.lol

Actually I was saying both games are pretty silly to call neutral. But 2 hours away for the farthest team and 2800 miles away for the farthest team isn't the same.

Lol, I'm not even going to bother with "Oregon St was ranked when the majority of SEC teams weren't".

That statement is right out of the flat earthers handbook. More of your fact less bullshit.

I already showed you what teams your conference mates scheduled that were on a par with Mercer, Oregon St was just the rotted, festered cherry on top of that pile of shit.

My bad, I thought we were talking about Division 1 football programs...clearly we must have been talking about something else and I was mistaken.
Yes you were/are mistaken. Mercer, "competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) and is a member of the Southern Conference"

FCS AND FBS, "IS NOT IN THE SAME GENERAL CLASS".

This makes no sense. I can see you're just arguing for the sake of arguing and throwing as much shit against the wall as you possibly can.

Are they or are they not both Division 1, because last I checked, Division 1 football teams were only allowed to play other Division 1 football teams.

I guess now you want to define what class means.

Well, technically speaking, no one has won a BCS bowl for what? About 4 years now?
If we're getting technical Utah and Colorado didnt join the PAC until what 2011? Near the end of the BCS era.And UCLA is a basketball school.SC has a BCS bowl win regardless tho

Yes both FCS and FBS are Division 1, but FCS and FBS are two different classes.

Conferences with an 8 game schedule have never missed the playoff. Conferences with a 9 game schedule miss 50% of the time . You're better off scheduling a scrub OOC than you are playing an extra conference game

Exactly. Why change when it benefits them so much? Like I've said before, many of them would never make a bowl if it weren't for those cupcakes.

Bowl=more money (some of the time)
Bowl=more media exposure (all of the time)

Just curious but I don't think there is such a rule. I don't think FBS schools are allowed to count D2 games toward bowls, but I think they would be allowed to play. (They just don't get credit for the win).

I don't know if FCS schools have a similar negative, though I would imagine beating a really bad FBS school (Like Oregon State) would be more beneficial both financially and for playoff selection, than paying to beat a D2 program.

For D2 qualifications it says;

football and men's and women's basketball teams must play at least 50 percent of their games against Division II or Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) or Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) opponents
So it sounds like D2 programs are allowed to play FBS schools.

Just curious if this was an actual rule you heard but no real reason for the question.

Only one time a P5 Champ was left out without losing a non conference game, 5-6 times the team had two losses.
