Week 13 @ NMSU

Well, looking like Mason Petrino will be the starting QB the rest of the season. Unfortunately that means two weeks of dogshit offense. Hope the defense is ready to be out there for 40+ minutes.

Not really much to even say at this point. NMSU has a solid offense and a pretty mediocre defense. That should be good enough for a 20+ point win.

Only thing to hope for here is that Mason doesn't get hurt or else they might do something stupid like burn a redshirt for two games of action when the season is already over.

Prediction:

Coach Petrino probably has a solid scripted first 10 plays again so I'd imagine they may move the ball on offense the first quarter. After that I will be surprised if they move it beyond midfield.

Go Vandals I guess but it's pretty much officially basketball season now. Idaho plays CSBU in the Great Alaska Shootout Semi's tonight.

That Mason situation basically ended up going exactly as I expected. They tried to play him in order to not burn a redshirt, but he got hurt because he's like 5'8'' 160 playing D1 football (maybe that's generous). That, of course, forced them to burn the redshirt anyway.

Richardson looked alright from what I saw of the game. About as much as you can expect from a true freshman in their first start.

Best part is that I'm hearing Matt may come back for the final game which means Richardson had his redshirt burned for 3.5 quarters of playing time.

Definitely blows. There is a good chance Idaho is 5-6 right now if Matt plays those two games against NMSU and CCU when they didn't have their starting QBs. It would at least make this last game interesting even if I think Georgia State would win regardless.

Anyway, they really need to work on that O-line and find the guy at QB for next season. Richardson appears to have the inside track but Lemle looked great coming out of high school, the gray shirt Borsich isn't on campus yet, and I'm not ruling out the possibility of a grad transfer.

Still gonna be a big rebuild on offense though and I'm not convinced they'll win more than 5 next season.
