Let's say both schools offer Chip the same salary (taking into account state taxes), which program should he choose and why?

Has to be Florida, they're in a state that produces a heck of a lot of talent and then surrounded by states that produce almost as much.

In my opinion and thought process, UCLA has a better chance of playing for Pac 12 titles than Florida does for SEC titles. Florida lost recruits with this year's performance. UCLA didn't have the expectations that Florida had and for all intents and purposes, UCLA exceeded expectations. They already upped their win total form last year and still have a chance of being bowl eligible. Also, what California programs have has huge success this year? Yeah, Stanford and USC will likely play for the Pac 12 title, but they were NOT dominant teams this year by far and essentially are playing for the Pac 12 title by default because the entire Pac 12 division underperformed this year. In Florida, with the struggle of Florida State and Florida and the surge in competition in the AAC with USF and UCF, Florida recruiting got very interesting and very competitive.

I think UCLA is the better job in the long run because it's the easiest of the two to be successful.

As long as Saban keeps kicking everyone’s ass in the SEC the expectations for the rest of the conference will continue to be unrealistic. They all want to equal Bama. Not going to happen. Senile 80 year old boosters keep up the hope though.

UCLA-Sits in a hotbed of talent that only USC has been able to historically lock down, way less blue bloods sniffing around. Florida is perhaps #3 in their own state, with a ton of blue bloods and traditional powers fighting with them for their own state recruits.

Percentage is not a good way to look at it, when Cali has double the students Florida have.

Is this a trick question?

Isn't the correct answer Michigan?

It's always Michigan.

The best 3 states to recruit out of, is Texas, Florida, and Cali.

Assuming you would be a raving success at either school, the UCLA job would present more opportunities to make a butt load of additional business income, professional contacts, stardom, etc. Also, putting UCLA in a position to finally dominate USC would pay huge dividends in prestige and professional status. Doing great at Florida would be a moon shot. Doing great at UCLA could be a Mars shot.

Has UCLA ever been as good as Florida was under Spurrier and Meyer? Serious question. I don't know the answer.

Yep, only two coaches have been good at Florida. But they were great elsewhere too, which is telling.

Take the Florida job, win coach of the year, get big ass extension, have 2 mediocre seasons and get fired and then get paid to sit on a sofa somewhere.
