Report: Adam Silver, NCAA officials discuss one-and-done

NBA commissioner Adam Silver and NBA Players Association executive director Michele Roberts met with the new Commission on College Basketball in Washington to discuss issues facing the basketball industry, according to a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Among the topics of discussion was the one-and-done rule, which requires U.S.-based players to be one year removed from high school before being eligible for the NBA draft, a rule Silver is thought to be open to changing.

Interesting, to me it should be two years that a player has to be in college before he can be drafted.

Everyone wins if One and Done is no more.

College recruiting gets cheaper. NBA picks are less risky and we fans see two improved products. Plus, you know, school.

Any North American between 18-20 is eligible for the draft.

Regardless of where they're playing or what year they are in of college. The team that drafts them retains their rights even if they elect to stay in school. Most high end college players are property of NHL teams already.

NBA used to do this. Larry Bird played in that championship game against Magic nearly a year after he had been drafted by the Celtics.
