Steve Spurrier: Florida's next coach 'is with his team now ... and maybe through bowl game'

Spurrier was on the Buddy Martin Radio Show and said he believes the Gators will have “an excellent coach here in 3-4 weeks.” He went on to add: “The coach is with his team now. The coach we’re going to hire is probably, I would almost 100 percent say is coaching his team today, this weekend, and through the end of the season, and maybe through the bowl game.”

Fascinating. Don't know much about him other than he's pretty funny.

Former NFL star Jonathan Vilma lists Coral Gables home for $18.5M

Vilma, who grew up in Coral Gables, played college football at the University of Miami. In 2004 he was drafted by the New York Jets and later won a Super Bowl championship with the New Orleans Saints.

The football star also co-owns Brickell restaurant Brother Jimmy’s BBQ. In the midst of his NFL suspension in 2012, Vilma banned National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell from attending the restaurant. A sign outside said “Do not serve this man,” with a photo of Goodell.

I knew it. They must've hired some POS and now don't want to tell us until we're drunk on turkey.

Yeah there was too much misinformation going around. I was trying to share as I heard things but that clearly didn’t work.

What is it about UF football that's so hard for these coaches to manage? It's something systemic...but I don't know what.

Spurrier built it up from very little...did all the fundraisers and made it his own. Zook did alright and kept up the appearances and recruiting - but the game decisions were brutal. (he looks great compared to what came lately)

Then CUM - who can coach a game but had a nervous breakdown trying to keep his arms around it all...even while doing very few appearances. Then Muschamp, who couldn't hack it on several levels and Mac who couldn't get the shit together either.

It just seems like there is more than a bad offense here. Since Zook, our coach simply hasn't been able to develop and control the players and all the mgmt his job entails.

Is there something different at UF that makes the HC job more complicated....or something? That's why I've been waxing on about needing a long resume coach. Building an offense is paramount, but all the side issues have been the bitch for these coaches. These guys just couldn't handle the whole damned job.

<pardon my rambling bullshit of a question>

i think that a lot of it is these rotten ass kids tbh.. ESPECIALLY in the last 8-10 years.. these kids have been raised that they are so entitled to everything that when reality hits they can't or wont deal with the consequences. I don't have a ear in the high dollar booster section anymore so i don't know if the boosters are putting all this pressure on the Athletic department in general or not.. because trust me they definitely have input.. idk if these coaches just dont have what it takes to be a hard ass like spurrier or not.. he was the boss.. if you didn't like it.. your ass could hit the road kinda guy.. you were replaceable .. im not sure these coaches understand that the expectation is to be competitive year in and year out and maybe they dont have the backbone to do what needs to be done..

bs bunch of sour grapes to me....mac definitely too arrogant for his own good and should have fired his good buddies for their failings. but im not buying into he destroyed the program bs. right coach can make florida work just have to excite the fans again. bringing offense back is parmount. if they consistently score 30+ points a game and lose a few close ones occasionally fans wont care. just make the product better.

Yahoo sports is reporting that Chip Kelly is no longer in the running for the Gators coaching job.
