Game Thread: Maryland week/game thread

Well, the season has flown by, this is it for regular season. 9-2, looking for a second 10 win season and an NY6 bowl. Sucks to have 2 losses by a total of 4, but future still as bright as the sun. Wish we had gotten it done for this group of seniors, but they laid a foundation to keep us back where we belong.

I'll probably have to watch this one on Wednesday, will be under a palm tree in Punta Cana next Saturday :suds:

I'm expecting more of the same from this past weekend. We get out ahead big and then throw the backups in to get some quality game time in preparation for next season.

I think starters stay in later if that's the case next week. Franklin and MD have no love lost between the 2.

Yeah he was the getting the big check for being the "Coach in Waiting" which doesn't exist in the NCAA anymore. Then this power struggle, which he was not in directly as I understand it was won by those that said, Ooops we didn't mean it. Grin And off he went to Vandy.
Then the same misguided group runs the Fridge out the next year (ACC Coach of the Year with 9 wins) and not nicely.

What a mess, split the fan base and boosters in about two groups. Three if you include the Non-sports Admin and Academic side. They wanted a pretty boy they could manipulate. And everyone knows Professors with their PHD's can run a football team, grin.

So in comes pretty boy Coach Deadsall. It will be years before the groups come together again. The AD is exiled on sabbatical now. What a mess. Deadsall with one win against a top 25 team in his career and none at Maryland. Some still point to his win against Penn State as if it shows how good he was. What did you have 70 scholarships at the time and no bowl eligibility.

Yeah I'm a Maryland fan and like Dukin but we have a ways to go. I don't wish you luck (G) but don't hate you like some.
I do hope for a good game.

I live in MD and they have had the worst luck this year. They are down to #3 QB and have been for a good part of the year. Not quite sure why the Michigan State game was so close. The score should be big as you suggest.

Edsall was a huge mistake. I like DJ, I think he will do well. They have done some nice things for the football program. I like what they did with Cole. Having Plank as a former player/student can't hurt. For Durkin to really improve the team he needs to keep the talent in the DMV area there. There is plenty of it. They had terrible luck at QB. DJ wants to run a similar offense to what Penn State is running. He couldn't do that with Bortenschlager. I think they might have been a bowl team if they could have stayed healthy at QB. The tough thing for MD is having Penn State, Michigan State, Michigan and Ohio State every year is a killer schedule.

On a bright note the basketball team has been fun to watch although it is very early.

Sporster, having the big come back in basketball sure made yesterday, down 15 at the half and giving up 50 at the half.
Hey I know statics are for losers, but that's about all we have in football this year, g.
Sagarin has us this morning as playing the 2nd toughest schedule this year. And counting the coming up game with Penn State we will have played 8 teams in the Sagarin Top 30. Doesn't mean much if you not winning though.
By the way that car in my Avitar is from a track in Central PA

Yeah, running Fridge out for Edsall was a puzzling move. Durkin is definitely a step in right direction for them.

Playing in a division with PSU, OSU, Michigan and MSU will make your schedule pretty tough. Add in UCF who is undefeated this year and Texas who turned it around a bit since you played them. Maryland football is ina tough spot just by nature with taht division and the big 3 (I guess 4 if you want to count MSU) rolling again with Franklin, Meyer, Hairball and Dantonio. Its not going to get much easier the way the big 3 are recruiting again too.

Another win and prep for a bowl game. A run at the National championship is def in our future and we will have come all the back from the scourge of the century in Happy Valley!
