The defense is a good defense but I don't think I'm calling them great yet. Also, I don't know what to say about Peters. He has a really, really long way to go if he still can't beat out O'Korn. Maybe McCaffrey will work out, who knows? All I know is they have a long way to go.

Idk, but I wonder if they were hesitant to play Peters in an environment like PSU against a top defense (behind a bad Michigan OL nonetheless). I would be.

anyway, I'm not fed up with Harbaugh though he probably deserves some blame for the lack of progress on offense (Speight's injury didn't help either). I thought it was a rebuilding season coming into the season (I had them pegged at 9-3). The performance has been a bit disappointing and there's a good chance they're looking at 8-4 (and a few mistakes could bring them to 7-5), but it's a young team. I'm excited to see what they can do next year.

I do find it interesting that the Michigan haters want us to get rid of Harbaugh and the Michigan fans want to keep him ... odd ...

MGoBoard is just straight up unreadable right now. You'd think they on the verge of going 3-9 right now.

I like that people think Harbaugh wouldn't hesitate to go back to the NFL, even after the shitshow with the Niners.

If he does, I'd wish him well, but I'd rather keep him here. He's a good fit in Ann Arbor!!

That's just it. I think we have that QB on the roster, we just need to be patient as they turn into the player we need at that position. We'll see if one of the guys behind OKorn finally gets a shot against Rutgers.

I've seen bad Michigan teams with bad players, this is not one of them. We just need a QB to step up and I think we can turn things around pretty quick. The defense is a great defense, even after what Penn State did.

No. It's a paper tiger.

You have a 9 million dollar head coach who was brought in to be a quarterback whisperer. You have one of the highest paid college coordinators in football and he has a million dollar passing buddy as well. You are spending 11 million dollars a year for an offense that has to be simplified down to a high school level because a guy who has been on the team for three years has no idea how to run the offense that your head coach went out and stole from another university. He has one touchdown pass in 110 attempts, and four picks in three and a half games. You have two highly rated QBs that your head coach hand picked are so bad they can't start over that. For the money that Michigan is shelling out, that program and it's fans deserve better but they continue to make excuses and accept mediocrity. If his name was Hoke, Michigan fans would be calling for his head.

Seriously? You think 10-2 is mediocrity? Michigan has lost 2 games with a very young team. I think most Michigan fans are rational enough to understand that that they would have to temper their expectations this year. While I don't like to see Michigan lose, I still have confidence in Jim Harbaugh. Millennials are more antsy--like younger generations of the past, if they don't like something, they want to see instant change. To them I say, get a grip.

As if you need a reminder, last year Michigan State went 3-9 (1-8) for a sixth place finish in the east division. That doesn't even measure up to "mediocrity." Moreover, off-the-field problems were a disaster. Did Michigan State fire Dantonio? More than a few "fans" were calling for it.

For your own reasons, YOU want Michigan to fire Harbaugh not the vast majority of Michigan fans. They see who you are.

You did see stupid Michigan State fans calling for Dantonio to be fired. I never suggested that Harbaugh be fired. I stated that Harbaugh is the best coach that Michigan will find and that people calling for him to be fired are idiots. I stated that Michigan fans shouldn't be making excuses for this mediocre offense when they are spending $11 million a year for it. Instead we get "Oh, well, 70% of the team are recruits he brought in so we have to give him more time to get his guys in there." He was brought in to develop QBs and it is a complete shit show. I wanted our OC who took us to the playoffs fired and the dude only makes $350k. You have an OC and a Passing coach but you have no resemblance of a passing attack that make over $1.5 a year combined.

And you aren't seeing a 10-2 season this year. You are seeing a head coach who did great with other people's recruits but as he integrates his players in, the team is getting worse and worse.

First, my question was, "Did Michigan State fire Dantonio? Second, Michigan isn't spending 11 million a year for a mediocre offense. THAT would be "illegal," though some programs may take that path. Michigan fans can make as many excuses as they want to--just as "idiot" Michigan State fans did last year. Frankly, it's not your business how well paid the coaching staff is. YOU're not paying their salaries. Michigan is in its relationship with Harbaugh for the long haul, which means that sometimes the team is going to win, and sometimes it's going to lose. Rational people understand that that's the nature of competitive sports.

If I were you, I'd be focused on the very tough games Michigan State will be playing in the next few weeks, not the status of the Michigan coaching staff. But, hats off to you in your win against Michigan.

I'm sorry, I thought I was on a sports message board. I didn't know that I couldn't talk about other teams. Please explain one thing, are fans only allowed to talk about their team or is it only Michigan who is completely free from being criticized from other fan bases?

I fully expect us to lose our games against Penn State and Ohio State because they are vastly more talented teams than we are. We weren't even competitive in our game against Penn State last year and although we are slightly better than them, we are a largely young team starting 13 freshmen and sophomores with only 8 seniors on the team. We will need to get a monsoon to happen in our game in Columbus again because as we all know, rain only effects Michigan State's opponents and not them, according to the last two times we played in that type of weather.

How many years does it take for a team to stop being young under a HC? When does that excuse stop working? Does it ever?

And FTR, the same was said by UW fans under Sark for like 4 years. They started winning soon after his departure.

It depends on multiple factors. Harbaugh inherited a great set of classes left over from Hoke, and won games with them. But Harbaugh only had a few weeks (like 3) to set up his first recruiting class, which was small and poorly ranked, and Hoke's last class was bad because he was on a downhill spiral. So now we're seeing a gap. We had a bunch of junior/seniors from the 12/13 classes, and we're really missing the talent from the 14/15 class which were ranked 20th and 37th and only had 14 four star players and 31 total recruits combined.

What we're seeing now is a roster that's heavily leaning on the talent from the '16 and '17 recruiting classes.

Yeah, Harbaugh's done good for that program but I think he's out the door as Michigan coach after this season. As a Colts fan I'm hoping he's the next Colts coach.
There's just no way this happens. I'm not sure why people keep spouting this Harbaugh to the NFL thing.

Seriously, LOL at Michigan fans in general. Most delusions of grandeur in all of sports.

I agree that fan bases are certainly free to talk about other teams. Criticize away. But, complaining about how much the coaching staff is paid seems almost unrelated to the status of this year's team. Complain about the weak O-line or the QB or the performance of the team against Penn State if you like. But, the continuous drumbeat against Harbaugh is old. Most Michigan fans will not take that bait and have not spoken of this year's team as a championship team--though hope always spring eternal, and their may yet be a few surprises.

Several Ohio State fans claimed that the Buckeyes would go 12-0 and had their hopes dashed wn the first game.

He is sleeping with recruits, taking his team to rome, putting nuts on some coaches gravesite, wearing a hat from the 1980s and is endorsed by Dockers.
