It would look similar to Wisconsin, but unlike Wisconsin, we've been destroying everyone else. Indiana is also a top 25 defense and we put 49 points up on them (would've been 56 if not for one of the worst TD drops of the season). Despite the awful game against Oklahoma, we're top 10 on both offense and defense. We have the highest scoring offense in the country on a per game basis at 47.3 ppg.

Also, if you're a computers guy, OSU is undoubtedly one of the top 4 teams in the nation. I know @ericd7633 is normally one except for right now when it favors Ohio State.

Except coming into the week they were 6th in the Massey Composite. I suspect they will be 6th or 7th in the Massey Composite when it's updated. There's a difference between that and efficiency.

Yeah..that's what you're supposed to do. VT has crushed every team we're supposed to beat this year, happen to lose to a top team, and also have a win over a ranked opponent (which OSU doesn't)

Would it make sense for me to rank VT 4th, ahead of the team that beat us in our house, and just continue to say "but we beat everyone else bad!!" :noidea:
You're not as talented as OSU and aren't performing as well. 13 point win over 4-4 BC isn't impressive. Congrats on the 27 point win against an FCS school. We've performed better in every game outside of Oklahoma. Try again.

And they're 2nd in the Sagarin. Hard to take the Massey composite serious when it includes polls ranking Miami 1st over Alabama.

I'm kinda a computers guy. That's why I like the Massey Composite Rankings. But it's funny, seems like the vast majority of computers do have doubts that OSU is one of the top 4 teams. So maybe they're not undoubtedly one of the top 4 teams. Maybe you should tell the computers off about how your blowout loss to Oklahoma and your win against Indiana makes you awesome. College Football Ranking Composite

Edit: I see others have already pointed out how stupid your post was. You said computers would undoubtedly say OSU was top 4. The Massey ratings track dozens of rankings. Only a handful of them think Ohio State is top 4. There are stupid computer formulas, sure. There are two that have Ohio State over Bama as well, despite OU going in dry on them.

Not all computer metrics are the same. Coming into the week Ohio State was 14th in Anderson and 15th in Colley. And are currently 7th in Massey.

Coming into the week, using the computer numbers that were used in the BCS, Ohio State was ranked 9th in the computers.

NC St > VT? What NC St performance hops out as an impressive one? They also lost to South Carolina...

Good wins over Florida State and Louisville ... don't take too much of an offense, some big games coming up for both teams will separate the pretenders from the contenders.

A lot of that is because of their loss. It's like one of seven games in NCAA history where a team outgained their opponent by 250 and didn't win. Nobody's outplayed them like Clemson outplayed Virginia Tech.

My condolences to Iowa St., Arizona, and South Carolina. Cracking my top 25 this season has seemed like it's a worse fate than the SI cover jinx.

I also find it somewhat funny to see an Ohio St. fan ragging on Wisconsin and Miami (FL)'s margin of victories, when I seem to remember that the 2002 Ohio St. team kept squeaking out games seemingly every week (6 regular season games decided by a TD or less). All Wisconsin and Miami (FL) have to do is "Just win, baby" and they'll keep their playoff chances alive--it doesn't have to look pretty.

Don't exclude Notre Dame from the conversation of the best 1-loss teams in the country. That loss was a 1 point loss to undefeated Georgia. And the Irish have looked dominant in their wins, including last night and a win at Michigan St. Those are better wins than anything Ohio St. has right now, and the loss is a better one than the one that Clemson took.

Obvious for anyone paying attention that Oklahoma is the best 1 loss team in the nation.

Ha ha, no. Oklahoma is one of the worst 1-loss teams in the nation. We might get lucky and make the playoff, but if we do so, we are going to get boatraced there as long as Mike Stoops is the defensive coordinator. :(

I totally understand what you are saying. But, of all the contenders, OU is the only offense I see that can cause problems for Bama. However, I see no way the OU defense can cause any problems for Bama.

Yeah, it's incredibly frustrating because Baker is good enough that the offense is sufficient for a national championship-winning team. But the defense is atrocious and will remain so as long as Mike Stoops is around, and with this being Baker's last year, I fear the window is going to be closed for the next few years.

He's the only QB I see on any of the contenders that can "ad lib" enough when things break down to bother Bama. Don't see it out of PSU, UGA, TCU, Wisky, etal.

I just ain't buying into the undefeated teams of Penn State, TCU and Wisconsin. At least not yet. I'll admit they are good teams, but not up to the hype...yet. All have looked pretty dominant but....

Penn State - Michigan got way too much love for beating Florida. That ain't lookin' too good right now. In turn, Penn State is getting way too much love for beating Michigan. Who else have they beaten? Iowa?

TCU - Way too much love for the Okie Lite win. Who else have they beaten? Couch burners? And who trusts Kenny Hill?

Wisconsin - Not just who "else" have they beaten...but WHO have they beaten?

Penn State and TCU have chances to prove me wrong in the next few weeks. Wisconsin may not get to at all!

Okay, now you can tell me I'm full of shit and too critical.

Wisconsin won't have a real opportunity to play a ranked team until the BIG championship. They didn't make the schedule so I can't blame the for the in conference schedule. BYU is normally fairly good but lost their stud QB and RB last season and look like garbage this year so that's just bad timing. Wisconsin is better across the board than they were last season at all positions except QB. This is the same team that was up by ten @ OSU, and up 28-7 on PSU. Hopefully with the extra year of experience, better defensive coordinator and more talent they will learn how to finish games and run up the score on everyone and not give teams a chance to ever come back. So far the penalties and turnovers have cost 100's of points this year. We should blow out every team by 40+ points if we don't beat ourselves. Only Wisconsin can beat Wisconsin.

As for doubting the undefeated teams that's fine but just remember many of the one loss teams have lost to scrub teams this year. Also, you seemed to forget Bama has beaten nobody this year. Their best Out of conference win was to the 0-3 FSU garbage team. They relinquished 23 points to a community college and the SEC as a whole looks like crap outside of Georgia and Bama. LSU lost to Troy I believe and now look like world beaters in the SEC. No bueno. The entire PAC 12 is horrible. Cougs lost by 30+ to a mediocre team, the dogs were beaten by a poor team, USC looks like the most overrated team this season with the most overrated player, Colorado dropped of the face of the earth. That conference is a mess. The BIG 12 is being dominated by the little engine that could in TCU. Many fans of teams in the Big 12 agree that conference should be blown up. The ACC is good but very unpredictable. Miami barely survives every week, Clemson looked bad vs Syracuse, FSU is a non factor, NC state might be the best team in the conference and they lost to an ok South Carolina team.

The only decent division in all football is the BIG East division with OSU, PSU, MSU, Michigan, Maryland, Indiana and even Rutgers (.500) in conference. Now the BIG West that's a different story. Iowa has beaten Iowa state and nearly beat PSU but played down to their competition in a couple games and is 4-3, Northwestern has underachieved at 4-3, Minnesota is in a rebuilding year and has a new coach but is also 4-3. Nebraska changed QB's and look awful at 3-4 and might fire their coach, Wisconsin is the only elite team in the conference and the gap is so large that it's almost unfair. I'm actually bored in some of these games.
