Time for some major shakeups after this week's events.

1. Boise State - Yes, obviously this is by far the biggest jump as Boise State actually looked Boise Stateish for once, not in the way that we're used to as they thoroughly dominated San Diego State on defense and special teams, while the offense did just enough, not making errors and scoring when needed for a dominant victory, was this performance for real? We will start to find out this week against Wyoming.

2. Colorado State - Another unbeaten team in Mountain West play, after looking dominant in previous weeks Colorado State looked questionable especially on defense in a closer than expected 44-42 win over Nevada...but they did survive.

3. San Diego State - San Diego State's New Years 6 hopes are officially dead after getting crushed by Boise State, they will have to go back to the drawing board after their offense was dominated...they don't have any times to mull over this disappointment though as they host Fresno State, lose that game and suddenly a division title could be out of reach just like that.

4. Fresno State - What was that? A loss to Fresno and a division title is out of reach? Yes quietly Fresno State is unbeaten in Mountain West play, I was not excited about the hire of Tedford but clearly it is working so far as Fresno State has dominated every non-Alabama or Washington opponent on the schedule, and this week's 38-0 win over New Mexico was most impressive.

5. Wyoming - Another unbeaten team in league play, Wyoming managed to beat Utah State on the road which isn't easy to remain undefeated. Their offense is starting to figure things out just in time, they can show that they're still a contender for a Mountain division title if they can beat Boise State.

6. Utah State - Utah State dropped another rather close game against Wyoming...they look competitive but this week could be the crux of their season as they face UNLV on the road, if they lose that one their bowl hopes could be in turmoil and less importantly because they probably won't notice they will drop rapidly in these rankings.

7. New Mexico - They were thoroughly destroyed by Fresno State, I mean just nothing went right for them. They must move on though because basically every game remaining on the schedule is tricky.

8. Air Force - It's strange to say because of how competitive they looked against the likes of Michigan and San Diego State to start the year but Air Force might be bad. Its tough to tell what to think for the 2nd week in a row they dug themselves a giant deficit this time giving up 27 consecutive against UNLV to start out, and once again they made a late game comeback and this time completed it winning 34-30, scoring 27 consecutive points to end the game. Air Force outscoring UNLV 7-3 in the first half of the 3rd quarter proved to be the difference. They have a suddenly salty Nevada team next.

9. UNLV - So UNLV...the good news is they took a 27-0 lead on Air Force, the bad news is they lost the game, there's been flashes at times that this team can be decent, most of their toughest games are out of the way now so they can possibly make some ground. Starting with Utah State this week.

10. Nevada - Has Nevada started to figure things out?? After surprisingly beating Hawai'i by 2 TDs the week before they nearly stunned Colorado State on the road, some tough games are ahead but showing progress in year one is what Nevada fans are looking for.

11. Hawai'i - Hawai'i at least isn't the worst team in this conference as they managed to beat San Jose State. Bad news is perhaps BYU thanksgiving weekend is the most winnable game from here on out...the good news is Hawai'i has a bye week so they don't have to watch their miserable team this week.

12. San Jose State - The only good thing I can say about this team is that they actually returned a kickoff for a touchdown in the 4th quarter to bring the score to possibly set up an opportunity for them to tie the game against Hawai'i...but for some reason during the kickoff return the returner and a blocker were so far ahead of everyone that they gave each other a high five in the middle of the return! Naturally they were assessed a 15 yard penalty on the extra point taking a potentially tying 2-point conversion out of the equation, and then the extra point was blocked and returned for two points by Hawai'i to put them up by 4, Hawai'i then scored a TD to put the game out of reach...oh San Jose State at least they're having fun while playing bad.
