Wait, you mean schedules are done in advance and you can't just change them to be better at the last minute?

Washington really does need to step up their OOC.
You do get that these things are worked out many MANY years ahead right? If you make a philisophical change in how you want to schedule OOC right now today, you wouldn't see much for at least 5 years. Not trying to schedule against upper level talent anyway.

That's what has already happened here. AD Cohen has already been working hard at increasing those and landed the Auburn game next year. They have future H/H deals with Michigan and Ohio State.

They also have a H/H with BYU which was a reasonable one at the time it was created. BYU right now today is garbage.

This is what is so hard with that part of the schedule. You have to sort of guess who will meet your desired impact 5 or more years from now and hope you are right. They were very wrong with Rutgers for sure. That was the prior AD and coach Sark with their bullshit lower level OOC mentality that none of us were happy with.

BTW, the last leg of the H/H with Ohio State isn't finished until 2025. That's how far out these things are scheduled.

Gary Andersen agrees to part ways with Oregon State.

I'm kind of surprised at the timing and details surrounding it. It's not like OSU is going to be bringing in a big name/hot upandcoming coach. But at the same time I guess it's not like their season is gonna get worse with an interim coach either...

So far news of Andersons departure hasn't impacted the line for their game this week. It's Colorado -12.5 right now on most boards. So the bettors are not factoring it much into their game right now.

Although, I have to admit the cupcakes were kind of funny. Washington really does need to step up their OOC.
when the Rutgers deal was made, Rutgers was coming off a 6-7 season with bowl.
Fresno state had just won their division in the MWC and was 6-8 that year.

it isn't UW's fault they both trended down.

No, but it is also true that Woodward and Sark were trying to hedge toward easier schedules to make it easier for them to look better and it is now biting us squarely in the ass.

and every school gets stuck with something like this from time to time for reasons like teams backing out, conference changes and who knows why.
Oregon has a shit non conference next season with Bowling Green, Portland State and San Jose State after that they got Auburn, Ohio State, texas Tech, Baylor
WSU has no P5 teams til 22
Utah banks on BYU but they aren't always good. no p5 teams til 23
USC puts a lot on ND too. yes they had texas (who hasn't been very good) other than that TX game next season no other P5 teams for the next 10 years yet

To be honest, it won't hurt the ducks to have a lower slate while they are building. It doesn't really hurt until you are top 10 caliber. Unless you are talking about impact on recruiting (likely fairly minor) and what your fans think of it.

yes but even a middle tier Fresno and Rutgers wouldn't be getting as much flack as they are now

I know and Texas A&M prob would roll Oregon next year if it happened. but in rebuilding I would still rather see a Illinois or Rutgers or Kansas on the schedule than Bowling green and San jose state

BYU and Notre Dame the next season both on the road. That's two games in one season some SEC teams wouldn't schedule in ten years.

That was done last year when they scheduled Auburn. That is unless Auburn goes in the trash before next September.

They have done a nice job of stepping up, I saw the Auburn series, then Michigan, the Ohio State. Those are good pick ups. Just the one more lean year with 2019.
