With the recruits he could bring in and the energy he could create in the program, Tim Brewster would get Nebraska a B1G title and a spot in the Rose Bowl within 5 years.

I'm late to the party and I'm sure this has been suggested already, but...

:kiffin:

His FAU team played Wisconsin tougher at Camp Randall than Nebraska usually does.

Good question.

Nebraska will either have to hire from the Group of 5 or look at Coordinators from the Power 5. The obvious choice is Scott Frost and Turner Gill come back. Turner Gill was screwed over by Kansas. Scott Frost just might be a rising star. Will either of them want to be the Nebraska head coach? Don't know.

At this point, I have not looked hard enough at the possible candidates that I would choose from if I were the AD.

On the Nebraska boards I posted a little something about the current 22 new head coaches in 2017.

Three of them have continued their winning ways from the previous school. Taggart, Fleck, Brohm.

One of them went from a Power 5 Dumpster fire and back to the group of 5 and is doing fine. Maybe that is his level, Strong.

Seven of them were proven losers, were hired again, and shocker, continue to lose. Hmmm, what category does Mike Riley fall into?

One of them is Tom Herman, jury is still out.

One new HC is doing good. California Justin Wilcox, but, California seems to start great and once in the PAC 12 schedule, gets shot down in flames. A we shall see mode. He is doing it with Sonny Dykes recruits who is someone I mentioned in 2014 for Nebraska.

Oklahoma Lincoln Riley is continuing on with Bob Stoops recruits.

The rest are new coaches that seem to be establishing themselves as losers.

What does this show?
10% of new head coaches might be good.
Coaches that are perennial losers, tend to stay perennial losers.
Coaches that tend to win at one level can move on and win at the next level. Exception, Charlie Strong.

Nebraska will either have to hire from the Group of 5 or look at Coordinators from the Power 5. I doubt any head coach from a Power 5 will move. It does happen though, Wisconsin proves that. Twice.

Epiphany!! Maybe Chryst at Wisconsin is pissed off at Alvarez and comes to Nebraska.

I sort of looked at Group of 5 coaches but that was about it. Once I saw that Rocky Long at SDSU was nearly as old as Bill Snyder I quit that exercise and decided to save if for another time.

Nebraska will either have to hire from the Group of 5 or look at Coordinators from the Power 5

Need more input.

@Deep Creek
Here's a hypothetical I heard yesterday on Sirius driving between Pecos and Van Horn...aka middle of nowhere.

Anyhoo, Bo Pelini's record at Nebaska was:

2008 9-4
2009 10-4
2010 10-4
2011 9-4
2012 10-4
2013 9-4
2014 9-3

Question asked was "Had those been the records for Saban at Alabama w/o a natty for the first seven years, would Bama fans have been satisfied and kept Saban, or showed Saban the door similar to how Nebraska showed Pelini the door?"

essentially yes he got to a NCG and lost in embarrassing fashion
You consider losing 22-19 "embarrassing fashion"?

You ought to be a Miner fan. We can show you losing in embarrassing fashion!

Coming from where Alabama was coming from, those records would have been great, the first few years.
Then they would have wanted more.

So Nebraska fires Solich because of his drinking problem and him fucking coeds, ok, but they knew that before they hired him.

And they fire Pelini because he was a mental case, ok, have no problem with that because he really did need to go, but they knew that before they hired him too.

They then hire Mike Riley, a coach that has done absolutely nothing, which Nebraska knew before they hired him.

Jesus Fuk Guys
You are looking right at these guys and know their faults and you pull the trigger and make bad choices anyway.

Eh he was the OL coach for 2 lines that won the national award for best OL in CFB. 2 times in 4 years . Yes unproven as a head coach but no proven successful coach is going to come to Nebraska with their current roster ( imo ). That leaves you with a G5 coach or a P5 washout ( like Riley ). Personally I prefer taking a risk but I understand why Husker fans feel otherwise
Yeah, OL success isn't enough to cut it by itself. We've got a good O-line coach (both in college and the NFL) that is a disaster of a college head coach.

Not necessarily...but that could be assumed as well.
well bo's problems were many his behavior and his inability to win big games, hell getting blown out in big games not even being competitive. Alabama was coming off a wide array of different circumstances than nebraska was when the hires were made. BUT i would say if he wasnt able to get over the big game blues and couldnt win a ccg he would have ended up like Bo also.... most blue blood programs would do the same thing. Sure there are a ton of schools that would be happy to win 9 and 10 every year but that isnt the expectations here in nebraska and i would imagine same with alabama and other schools who have a history of winning

Yeah, that was the consensus of callers on Sirius. Point was MOST blue bloods would have reacted just like Nebraska did with Bo...regardless of who their coach was. And not just blue bloods. With few execpetions, schools that are spending a shit pot full of money on HCs, facilities, etc ain't going to settle for 8-9-10 win seasons without at least some Division championships/CCGs/big game wins and often in the mix for the CFP.
