The dude has to be like 35 by now. Father time is undefeated. I swear he's been OSU's QB for 10 years.

Plus Urban Meyer is his coach, so JT has probably joined a gang or some shit that distracts him from football.

IMO he's peaked as far as talent. He is what he is, and isn't that difficult to game plan for. He's a good runner and sub-par passer.

He was good in 2014 before getting hurt and in 2015(minus the Michigan State game), but was mediocre at best last season and mediocre would be a stretch for him this season. Coaches might have figured out how to stop him.

He was never a great passer, but was sufficient, IF, he had some decent receivers. Remember he hit 4 td passes against Oklahoma last year. His current wideouts leave a lot to be desired. They can't get open and their routes are not decent.
But I also think Barrett has lost confidence in himself to throw the long ball. He will be needed when they enter Big 10 play against the really tough teams.

He has a coach that doesn't develop quarterback talent.

Regressed since his first year. Injury, confidence, lack of deep threat. His backups Burrows and Haskins have both looked better but Urbs hasn't pulled the trigger yet. Probably won't unless it looks really bad unfortunately.

Yeah that's not true. There were photos that came out from ESPN after the Oklahoma game showing many different times when he had an open guy or a guy who had a couple steps on their defender where he failed to complete the pass. It was the same in several of his recent shitty performances.

This narrative of it being the WRs fault is nonsense. It's on JT. He's just not as good as he once was. Ever since he was picked over by the staff for Cardale to start the 2015 season, he hasn't been the same. His confidence is destroyed. I personally thought he should've transferred to start the year to a different program since he's already graduated. He could've used a clean start.

I think the coaches screwed him up by trying to make him more of a passer.

in 2014 when he was allowed to run around and make things happen he was great.

Now he seems hesitant to take off and run if nothing is there, he would rather force a bad pass than take off for positive yardage and keep the defense honest. He seems to have it stuck in his head that he has to be a pocket passer.

That being said, I think it's PARTIALLY on the WRs it's hard to complete passes downfield if nobody can get open. Barrett's accuracy on mid-deep throws has been bad though. A lot of the time when they do get open, he just misses them.

Last year and this year, not really.

The guys we have now, like Paris Campbell, are fast and dangerous on quick hitters that get them into the open field. But their route running is meh and they have trouble getting open consistently down field
