Seems to coincide with our best American born players choosing MLS over Europe.

They get pressured into it. The entire youth system is set up for kids to go to college and get drafted into MLS. US Soccer encourages that because the people who run it have financial stakes in MLS. That's what Jurgen was fighting against during his tenure. He was telling anyone that would listen they need send our youth to soccer academies, identify the real talent, and instead of telling them to go to college, go pro (as in Europe). But he kept getting push back because US soccer wants cheap players out of college to prop up their league. As a result, lots of talent isn't being developed as it should. Thankfully some players like Yedlin have chosen to stick it out in Europe. I'm hoping Acosta gets the hell out of MLS asap as well.

I'm not even joking when I say the US must fire Bruce before the WC if we make it. No way in hell can they bring this guy to Russia next June unless the goal is to bow out in group stage without earning a point

You see his comments post game? It's a prime example why he needs to be replaced. He was talking about how they were battling for a result and it was a good outcome. BULLFUCKINGSHIT. He should be livid. The attitude should be to wreck everyone in CONCACAF. It's that softass logic of playing it safe that's got us where we are today

I appreciated Hercules Gomez response, but I'm with Lalas on this one. I'm also tired of the "the '94 guys have a chip on their shoulder." Well, sure, so what? They had half the talent of today's team and twice the work ethic. Of course, they are edgy. If the current team had some of that edge, perhaps they'd not have been outscored 6-0 by Cota Rica in WC Qualifying.

FYI, Costa Rica is middling.

Not saying we deserve it by any means, but we will absolutely be in the World Cup next year and I'm pretty sure it won't even take a play in game:2cents:

at this rate I would not be surprised if they take a play in game... Nothing they have done has given me much confidence in them

Me neither. More the lack of quality of their opponents

even with they lack of quality in there way I still am not confident. I would not be shocked if they played down to the level of their competition and lose

Lalas isn't wrong, but the whole thing was hilarious coming from him. He not only wasn't that good, but was a huge puss when he played. Constantly flopping.

He was not great, but he did play in Series A.

Have to win two games for your statement to become fact. And Panama is no slouch versus the US. I don't know if the US can beat Panama. And if they lose that, probably headed for a play-in game at best.

A play-in game would be pretty exciting though.

not necessarily. Panama goes to Costa Rica after us, right?
For the record I think we will win 2 games, but a draw and a win likely does it too.

I could see Costa Rica tank to eliminate the US.
