Has enthusiasm for Nebraska football decreased?

It has been a huge topic of discussion this offseason as to whether or not that pressure will still be an issue or not. If it is, we're going to see more sacks. There should have been far more sacks last season than we ended up with.

Tommy's release wasn't near as quick as Tanner's. There''s also the rule "Throw It Away and Live Another Day" aspect that Tommy never grasped as he became an upper classmen.
Who knows what to expect from Tanner being surrounded with better talent. Even though I've accused (and took some heat from the pimps) of Bopleeny bringing in "Best of the Rest" mid-major talent, it's been proven to be so. However, that talent is still better than Tulane ever had. Tulane gets 'mid-grade' mid-major talent at best.
There's more to being a great QB than footwork, quick release, throwing motion, and arm strength. Great QB's have to have the mind of a QB.
1) Don't get rattled from a sack, pressure, or when your team falls behind.
2) Be able to read a defensive set when he gets to the line-of-scrimmage.
3) Know the audibles.
4. Know the check-downs.
5. Keeping teammates focused.
6. Leadership.
7. Having respect from teammates.

We shall see if Tanner has these things with better talent around him.

Teams, all of them, sent the house on every down, no matter the situation or play call, why wouldn't you as it was only a 30% chance success of a pass being completed by TA

Regarding OD's OP and there not being any Oregon enthusiasm threads here?

My enthusiasm for the Oregon game is 5th at best. They had a very good streak there but were never crowned national champs. My order of enthusiasm games is probably this.

1) Ohio St (Urbs, recent natty.)
2) Penn St (Defending Big 10 Champs)
3) Wisconsin (Battle for the West)
4) Iowa (Adjacent state rivalry coming along nicely)
5) Oregon, Minnesota, Northwestern.
6) Purdue, Illinois, Rutgers.
7) Arkansas St, Northern Illinois.

If Nebraska had lost to Oregon last season I'd probably be more enthusiastic about the game. But they didn't. The worst Nebraska can finish the home and away is (1-1). Nebraska is (6-1) all-time against Oregon with the lone loss being in 1953. At worst Nebraska walks away (6-2).

"Next Man Up" - Died on the vine?
"Oregon Speed" - They sped quickly to non-bowl qualifier once Chip's 'attention to detail' system departed. The system was showing cracks in Helfrich's 2nd year. They weren't as sharp as Chip's teams. I predicted it would fade and remember quite well bantering with White Mamba about it's upcoming demise. I will admit I didn't expect it to be as bad as it did get. Like a semi that's brakes have heated up coming down a mountain. (11-2), (13-2), (9-4) w/bowl loss), (4-8) w/no bowl). No choice but to ditch it in the deceleration gravel pit.
As mediocre as Nebraska got from it's glory days, they never went (4-8).

However, getting met with pressure before you even have a chance to step up in the pocket gives a guy no chance to release the ball. Gotta at least be able to plant the front foot....there were countless times last season where Tommy had less than 2 seconds before he was scrambling.

I'm hoping the experience the OL has gained will help.

Knowing how to adjust pre-snap is vital in this offense. No offense to him, but TA was not a smart player and couldn't read defenses. By all accounts, Lee is able to do that. We'll see how it plays out.

Really depends If you're under center or in the shotgun though. If under center you're absolutely correct. If they're sending 7 or 8 every down against the shotgun, with a better QB than Armstrong, they'll get ripped to pieces on short outs.

Remember Martinez and Armstrong couldn't even throw screens. They not only didn't have the patience for it to develop, they didn't have the touch.
Send 7 or 8 every down into a designed screen and it's gonna be a long day for the defense.

Agreed. Tommy was an idiot. An extremely athletic idiot with a cannon for an arm.

I can't wait to see screen passes actually work.
