i think the Hawks need to pull some of the guys out of the rotation. A RB or two a WR or three. I think they should pull Collins out at RB, sorry Collins. Then Tell Lacy and Davis they will be playing 90% of the last two games to earn a spot. ( RB Rawls, Prosise, Carson then the winner between Davis and Lacy) WR i think it's time to really pull some names. Gah this position is deep, BIG troubles lol. I don't know maybe keep all of the wr till they REALLY need to cut them.

I just think it's time to pull some of these kids and release them. Allow them time to catch on elsewhere and get the needed reps to the ones that look to have the best shot. ( Williams, Darboh, McEvoy ) Having those three fight for the last 2 spots? Wow this is tough.

Ok i give up i wouldn't want to have any control over shaping this roster this season talk about some SUPER tough choices to make WOW! Depth is a beautiful thing!

Well there's going to be some trouble if another O-line starter goes down for a significant period of time.

Looks like Odhiambo at tackle now? Thought they might try slipping Pocic in there since he...you know.....played tackle in college. Still not completely sure why they drafted him as a center.

Anyway great showing for Russ, Doug, Kasen, and the first team offense. Generally the O-line was solid but Ifedi got abused on a few plays.

First team D needs to lock their shit down. I guess they only gave up 3 but they still looked sloppy.

Still, pretty good showing overall.

Tough break guys. I hate these injuries

George Fant - T - Seahawks
Coach Pete Carroll confirmed Friday night that LT George Fant (ACL) is done for the season.

Carroll called it a "significant" ACL injury, and suggested there may have been more ligament damage. The injury indeed looked brutal on the field. The Seahawks turned to sometimes guard Rees Odhiambo as their first-team left tackle in Fant's absence. They could also look at LG Luke Joeckel as a left guard alternative, or give un-retired free agent Branden Albert a phone call.

trade graham for a LT? the season could seriously be in peril if we have a revolving door at LT.

Love having Graham in red zone(Even though we ignore him) . Another year of Russel running for his life, good thing he got in shape. Tough year for Ifedi, punched in face by own teammate, then tears up knee by his own teammate! Seahawks will be keeping eye out for cuts coming up soon!

Well, clearly the most significant thing that happened last night was losing Fant, but I'm not sure that means the OL is sunk. Odhiambo should be able to come in and play well, whether it's LT or if they decide to put him and LG and move Joeckel to LT. Things may have just become real for Pocic as well. He can play all over the line and just may get a shot to compete for a starting spot sooner than planned. Wet blanket on an otherwise good showing from the first team O.

On the positive, another highlight type night for ex-dawg Kasen Williams. Not only did he make a couple more really nice catches, but right after the TD he goes down and makes a great ST tackle. If you pencil him in to the roster, you have him plus TL, Baldwin, Richardson, and probably Darboh (cannot see them cutting a 3rd round pick unless there's off the field issues). That leaves 1 spot for Kearse, McEvoy, Lawler, Moore & the longshots. Danny O'Neill keeps saying there is no financial advantage to cutting Kearse, but that's just not true. The team can save $2.2M by taking the $1.8M dead cap hit instead of the $4M he's due in salary and SB proration.

It's nice having RW out there healthy and doing his thing. The O clicked pretty well, and that was with Prosise a late scratch and not even dipping into Graham, TL, or Luke W yet. Speaking of Prosise, not sure what the issue was but between him and Rawls it seems almost inevitable that at least 1 of them won't be healthy to start the season.

Shaq Griffin was good in coverage. He did get beat for a couple catches, but he also had a couple PDs with a near pick.

I know they aren't gameplanning for the opponents right now, but the first team D hasn't been all that inspiring. If Rodgers has the amount of time they gave Bradford last night, week 1 is going to be rough. Would like to see them get after it a little better vs KC.

Walsh was booting it. Had the one that hit the crossbar, but that was a long kick that he maybe didn't hit the best. Nailed the other 50+ kicks easily. Pretty deep KOs too. So far, so good.

All in all, good night but for the 1 dark headline.

He's looking really good. Getting the throws out quickly and on target.
That's the difference between dropping back and being able to have time to find a receiver vs. dropping back and having to find an escape route.

What makes you conclude they drafted him to play C? He played all over the line in college, not just center, and now with Britt getting extended it's pretty clear that Pocic's future is at another position, barring injury to Britt. They've played him at multiple positions so far in camp as well.

Worse. Torn acl, done for the year.

@#!$%^! I was hoping I was wrong... You could tell though when he went down it wasn't good, those big guy's carry so much weight when they go down wrong usually it's bad... I"m not happy with Britt right now, he's turned out to be a good center, but he better review this tape and never repeat diving behind your teammates legs, those big guy's are blind when they're backing up like that ....

May be a bit harsh on Britt. It looked to me like he tumbled over the defender and into Fant moreso than diving right into him.

I realize that. Perhaps I wasn't clear but I meant to say that it was odd that they announced him as a tackle when they drafted him even though he came out as a center. I think we all knew Britt was going to be the center this year so it made sense that they would move Pocic around since he played all over in college.

The head scratcher for me is that Pocic replaced Ifedi in practice at RT quite a bit and Joekel is the listed backup LT. So I assumed if Fant went down you'd have Joekel going to LT and Odhiambo at LG and maybe you'd see Pocic take some reps at LT. Instead we had Joekel stay at LG and Odhiambo played LT basically the rest of the game.

I was mistaken however because I thought Odhiambo only played guard in college. Looks like he had some time at tackle too. Either way it's probably not worth putting much thought into. I'm sure they didn't expect Fant to go down. Will be interesting to see who get playing time at which position next week.

You know Britt feels down right awful right now but when you watch the play he did not DIVE, he was going down low on a guy who falls to the ground and Britt trips over him. Shit happens and you can't be pointing a finger at one of the big ugly's just because you are upset. To be honest i thought the Oline played better in the first game when Fant wasn't on the field. He looked to be much improved over last year but still looked like a 2nd year player. Ifedi looks down right BAD at RT and they need to give up on that failed project and move him back to guard, he is to heavy footed. Like he has cinder blocks on for shoes.

When Ifedi was drafted i always saw him as a Guard not a Tackle, in college Guard was his best position but he was pretty much forced to play Tackle because of the lack of talent around him really.

Nah, that was on Britt, and he better review it and learn ...

Nah, I"m not upset, but I know they preach do not undercut your lineman and Britt made an error there, we can't afford to lose anymore O-limeman so hopefully he reviews it and stops doing that... I think we'll be ok, but let's not lose anymore on that O-line or it could be trouble again upfront... I"m more disappointed than upset, I want to see that unit stick together for once, it seems like every year we just can't keep that line together, it's alway a rotation....

Once again, Seattle's lack of investment in O-line is going to be a thorn in the side of this team. I fear this season is going to just be like last year where the lack of a decent line prevents the offense from being productive.

Lack of investment? The only thing you can ding them on in that regard is the absence of 2nd contracts. They have dumped plenty of draft capital into the OL over the years. Assuming Odhiambo (drafted last year in the 3rd round) is the fill in for Fant, you now have a 3rd rounder, 1st rounder (by Jax), 2nd rounder, 4th rounder, and 1st rounder as the starting 5 from left to right. Free agent signing Aboushi and 2nd rounder Pocic appear to be the primary backups. The team has also lost 3 starters to free agency the last couple years, with 2 of them being 1st round picks (Okung and Carpenter). The line hasn't been good in recent years for sure, but I don't buy "lack of investment." I also have a tough time believing that the loss of Fant -- an UDFA with 1 year OL experience total at any level -- dooms this line. It's certainly not a positive to lose a starter, but it's not like we just lost Walter Jones here.

Yeah this team HAS put resources into the oline it's just when they start working out or get better they are not resigned or they never improve. I think Britt is the first Olineman they have resigned since Okung ( Unger was signed then traded correct? ) They say the talent level is not as good now coming out of college but there are teams out there that have no issue finding talented Olineman in the later rounds. I think the Hawks just can't scout/pick/coach up a olineman worth a damn lol. I mean even the law of averages say you hit sooner or later so i have a little hope left in Cable but VERY VERY VERY little. He can't always be wrong right? LMAO!

Who are these teams?

Aren't teams that have generally accepted solid lines those that are investing HIGH picks in it year after year (Oakland, Tennessee, Dallas)?
